I just looked at the AU stats for their games this year. The most interesting are the two wins over Ole Miss and Miss. State at home and the win over Arky away. I didn't watch any of those games but just looking at the stats I can see us having a chance to beat AU if our receivers catch the ball. The one game which puzzled me was the win over Texas A&M, either A&M has no defense or AU is better than Bama (no way) because the stats were crazy with both teams getting over 600 yards.
I'm going out on a limb (without my saw) and picking the Vols.

Not being negative but how could anyone have confidence in our Offensive line? They have supposedly been the best in the country the last 2 years and still jump off sides and can't run block.

I remember the comment of an opposing coach from last year "looks like Tarzan play like Jane". Dang it hurts to say that.... :jpshakehead:

CBJ needs this team to think they are "bulletproof" at home.

If I was him I would make these kinds of statements today at the presser even if I didn't Believe it to be true.

I would say we have made huge strides as a program playing at home and we play with the Tennessee swagger we need.

As a staff and players we have failed miserably on the road and that issue must be solved in the future.

If he said these things all week long the talk would be about what's different at home. IMO we need the kids to feel like at home they are "bulletproof".

More comparison of auburn and mizzu.

Auburn giving up 29pts per game in SEC play.

Mizzu 20pts.

We are going to score into the 20's at a minimum

It doesn't matter even if we score in the 30s... highly unlikely though. AU has a very good chance of getting into the 40s unless Malzahn takes his foot off the gas pedal.

Think of Mizzou's offense. Everything was to the outside and the perimeter. Mauk looked like Manziel running around against us. Marshall will absolutely shred us with his legs.

Josey is good but I like Mason better for AU.

So...is Butch Jones holding off commits until we hit a bump in the road? Seems like every time we lose or something bad happens, someone commits and gives us some momentum. Interesting coincidence if that's all it is.

You think we are worse than Washington state, arkansas, miss state, and ole miss on defense???

They scored over 31 only once in those 4 games with that being at arkansas with 35.

Surely we can expect similar outcomes as those 4 teams???

Sure seems like it. He's a mastermind.

I just hate this matchup for us. We have a horrible run defense against zone concepts. That is AU's strength. We suck against mobile QBs. Marshall is dual threat. They don't throw it much but when they do, they are efficient.

Imagine Quan Bray in the slot against Toney. AU loves running wheel routes. It's basically a staple of their passing game.

Mizzou scored 31 against us. But believe me, Pinkel could have ran it up much much more. In the 3rd quarter, it would be 3rd and 7, and they would run it. Guess what... They would pick up 9 yards and a 1st down.

How many shots down the field did you see in the 2nd half from Mizzou? What I'm saying is, if Malzahn wants, we could see something similar this weekend. JMO

I have zero faith in our defense against zone running schemes... And good ones at that.
