Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

When you go to the FF, there are a handful of really loud idiots. There are also good ones over there thinking they've entered an insane asylum.

I don't think the interior of our line will take a step back next near, tackle might be a little harder to replace

I posted this last night.

Auburn O=mizzu O

Mizzu D much better than Auburn D

Vols at home much better than vols on the road.

I love our chances

I'm not saying your wrong but if we couldn't stop the run this week it's hard for me to believe we will this coming week. Hopefully I'm wrong.

So I'm reading these comments and have my thoughts as well.

1) Sutton did his thing again. :)

2) Dobbs will be a very good QB for us when he gets more than 2 options at WR.

3) Most of these guys that came in under Dooley are losers who don't know how to win.

4) Josh Smith shouldn't get more than 2 passes thrown his way a game. Funny how some were calling him our best WR on the team.

5) AJ Johnson I'm still waiting on you to make "1" impact play.

6) Our Freshmen play harder than the upperclassmen. That's a major problem.

7) This staff has lost its mind the past two games. No creativity on offense or defense. It's a muck/yuck of a game.

8) Coleman needs to be benched. Play Foreman and let him learn. There's nothing Coleman is doing that a freshman can't do.

9) Our older guys are satisfied with the SCAR win

10) Why aren't we running more read option? Dobbs and Lane are a very good combo for us in that area.

Dumbest thing I've read in a while. We can't keep blaming dooley for every little problem we have. This late into the season these are BUTCH'S boys. If we win, its Butch, but if we lose, its dooley. Time to stop blaming someone else and accept the fact our current coach has his faults too.

Snap and clear. Auburn at home. Big Al comes home for Homecoming and delivers a pre-game speech that inspires and scares the s!!! out of 117 and we get the W on the anniversary of the 08 Wyoming loss .The dark era ends and 5 year curse for firing Fulmer is finally over.

Pretty spot on. I would add a point about the lines having their worst combined effort of the year.

He failed his schizophrenia test. He now again wants 95% of the older kids gone.

Comparing mizzu and auburn.

Mizzu averages just over 6yds a game more than auburn on offense.

Auburn gives up more than 40more yds per game.

Offenses are =

Mizzu better on d

IMO

Snap and clear. It's a new week with a new opportunity. I think this season in the SEC has taught us that any team can be beaten in any given week, except Bama.

AUs QB could run for 150 on us if he wants too...

And If our OL doesn't play any better than they did last night those stats you mentioned don't mean anything.

Actually, #3 is spot on and has been referenced by Butch countless times this season.

The older guys literally don't know how to win. They're like old dogs that have been kicked around their entire lives. Learned helplessness.

The USC win was big, but I'm afraid it actually made them even more complacent.

Our current coaching staff isn't perfect, but they didn't commit false starts, half ass block for their QB, and drop TD passes.

The TD drop was pretty big IMO. It was a beautiful throw though, hopefully Dobbs gains confidence from that.

Coaches can't reprogram 2-3 years worth of coaching, memories, and mental makeup in one season of football. :hi:

Ok...had enough time to cool off and post a semi-objective post.

1. Offensive line...what can you say that hasn't already been said? One word: atrocious.

2. Penalties and mental mistakes. Worst of the year. Honestly, it resembled a Dooley-lead team. That's about as bad a comment as anyone can make about a team, anywhere.

3. Dobbs. Mistakes that any freshman would make but, showed the promise of the QB of the future. The way he bounced back after bad plays was awe-inspiring, IMO. Drops would've changed the complexion of the game, at least for a quarter or more...probably not the outcome.

4. Butch looked as frustrated on the sidelines as I've ever seen...

5. From a fundamental, coaching, and, well, overall standpoint...worst game of the year. Getting blown out by Bama and Oregon is warranted, their talent is just that much better but, not Mizzuo. This is a team that comes to Knoxville next year and gets kicked around, IMO.

Lost my temper in a fashion last night that hasn't happened since '11 UK...nuff said.

Taking my 4 year old girl to her first UT game next week and I can't wait to see her reaction to Neyland. Here's hoping we're more prepared for Auburn that we were for Mizzou bc, honestly they're not that much different.

This.

And before someone references Auburn, remember that they still have guys who were on the NC squad on that team, and they have way more talent than us.

Butch knows this team is deficient in talent. It's why he has mentioned the need to overachieve to steal a win. So far, we've done it. That's no small feat in year one.

Seems like every time we lose a game, we get a new recruit the next day. Butch has these lined up as to not have much negative floating around the program. Wouldn't be surprised to get Malone today

I'm just ready to see an almost complete renovation of the defense. The OL just looks bad right now. The 2014 season can't get here soon enough. Curt Maggitt, Lambert, Weatherd... can't wait to see some new guys in the front seven next year.

Have no idea how we will do it, but Team 117 will do the unthinkable against Auburn and pull the upset. We are 4-1 at home and should be undefeated...a completely different team shows up in Neyland vs on the road. And they like to play early games for some reason.

Glad Butch said this

JONES: We will go back and evaluate every football play today on effort toughness, was it a scheme issue? Was it a coaching flaw?
