Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

I've handled too many Divorces, Domestic Assault cases, Orders of Protection, Restraining Orders, and even represented college football players for alleged serious criminal offenses and in University administrative hearings. We secured an acquittal just last year for a young man who, just before his senior season of football, was charged with statutory rape, whom was completely innocent of the charges. The good news, we beat the charge. The bad news, his name is all over the internet and he was kicked off the football team immediately, though even the school even found he committed no offense.

PLEASE let the people whose job it is to make these decisions do their jobs. PLEASE don't take something someone wrote or typed in a legal pleading or statement as truth or fact, and surely don't perpetuate it over social media or public forums.

The amount of people walking around you each day who have (1) been charged with a Domestic Assault, or (2) had an Order of Protection filed against them, or (3) AGREED to or were ORDERED to obey a Mutual Restraining Order would blow your mind. Sometimes, especially when people are young, immature, emotionally-charged and alcohol fueled, people don't get along and shouldn't be around each other. Relationships can be toxic. On the other hand, sometimes generally good people make isolated mistakes and regret things they've done or said to people they truly care about. I guess I need to say it - I am not saying it's EVER ok or excusable to commit domestic assault. Those who do should be punished. Those who are victims should be assisted in any way that benefits them.

No one on this board was present when this incident occurred. The media doesn't know exactly what happened either. It infuriates me when media and others rush to judgement or to be the first or strongest voice against (enter social topic of the day) without having the facts. People often ignore the words "charged/alleged/according to _______" and only see the alleged actions.

My biggest hope, other than for the well-being and rehabilitation (if needed) of the parties involved, is that the decision-makers (District Attorney, Judge, Administration at UT) treat Bryce the same as if you or I were presenting with a clean criminal record charged with a misdemeanor at his age. At worst, he should be placed on diversion, do some probation, anger management, community service, restitution for the gate, fines/court costs, and assuming he does those things, his charges would be dismissed and his record expunged.

That's what would happen with John Doe UT Sophomore. Let's hope the DA or UT Student Affairs don't get on a power trip and treat him differently because his names is in the news or on their timeline and because people care more than normal what happens to him because he's good at football.

He was around a little during the coaching search, but haven't seen him since. You are correct. He was affiliated with Adidas or some supplier outfit and as far as I know he has zero connections to UT since the Nike switch. I'm guessing his statement was his opinion only.
He's actually around a lot, I only know after searching for his post last night. He just hangs out in like softball threads and such.

In other words, I never see him.

You were AJ’s lawyer

DeerPark not feeling good about BT.

“Doubt he’ll be allowed to return. He was already on a short leash with the issues that prevented him from enrolling at USC. He was on zero tolerance based on what I’ve been told over and over. Now it’s just waiting for the process to play out. But I think he’s at a JuCo by the end of the month.”
While this is not the best news, if the was on thin ice, then it's got to be followed through. The sad part to me is not that he likely won't be playing football, but it is that he will lose the support of the university and football program to get the personal assistance he needs.

Good news: Tennessee ranks 26th in Bill Connelly’s SP+ rankings.

Bad news: still projected at 6-6 because we play 6 teams ahead of us in the ranking.

Preseason SP+ rankings: Alabama tops Clemson

People need to remember that we are significantly lower that Mizzu, and lower than USCjr. I keep hearing "Pruitt should at least be able to beat Vandy, Mizzu and the Gamecocks or he isn't the right coach." I'll give you Vandy, but not the other two teams. That ignores that on paper this TN roster is worse that the roster's of Mizzu and USC jr, and 4 other teams on our schedule. 7-5 will be a good result this year.

Should beat Vandy.

I’ve written Missouri off completely. They’re good with good coaching. Winning that one would be a total surprise.

USC is beatable just because Muschamp regularly gets his team to play down to anyone the play. Our talent is comparable - that one comes down to coaching 100%.

They spoke about Fields in the VQ Tuesday Podcast. Said they had heard from practice insiders that he is similar to Harrison .. in that they have had to slow him down to keep him from hurting his own team's players. VQ said they were having to train him NOT to get called for targeting. They seemed to be saying that he has passed Tank McCullough. Said Fields could contribute this year.
I’m a fan of McCullough, so that’s pretty heady praise!

Muschamp is ass. It baffles me how he owns us.
