I was referring to the people that seemed happy at the possibility of Alontae not being as good as others think he is. I don't care who starts as longs as those players give us the best chance to win.
I saw that one post after I responded. But I totally agree, I'm just happy anytime there's no drop off behind someone.

Lol ok bud. Guy is the #1 cb from day one and all of sudden Forgot how to play. That’s more likely.
Lol if Wickman is right then i am superrrr excited cause that means Burrell is the next Jalen Ramsey. Taylor is a very solid SEC cornerback so if a freshman has already unseated him, oh boy he must be good!

We’re going to have 5 DBs on the field 90% of the time. So there’s gonna be guys pushing. Also don’t overhype camp stars too. We all know how those can turn out once the real season stars.

We’ve all seen alontae hold it down as a freshman being put on an island.

Interesting question and I like the way you phrased it. I think Ubben is a dweeb. Just my personal opinion. Some people like his writing skills but I don't know where he would have gotten any football acumen. He seems to excel best at hustling our fanbase for money. jmo.

Still, if you look at it from a Pruitt viewpoint you can began to figure out who will probably be the first guys on the field. Pruitt said, in regards to the whole team, that we have 3 groups of guys, those with ability that know what to do and have some experience (returning production for the most part), those who have some ability and know what to do but have no experience (guys who enrolled in January or didn't play last year), and those who have some ability but don't know what to do and obviously have no experience (guys who got to campus in June).

So with Pruitt the question is for our d-line who are our top 3 guys? And then who is the 4th? He said last week that for the most part we played last year with a 4 man rotation up front and I hope for Pruitt's sake that Paul Bain did not hear that comment.

Butler played I think around 120 snaps last year. We had fans on here in the spring writing Emerson off as a bust but he's one who has ability and knows what to do but he didn't get a lot of experience last year. Mincey, I think has been banged up but he also got into a few games last year before he got hurt. He obviously didn't redshirt. I haven't heard that Solomon is eligible but he has ability, was here in the spring, and has big 10 experience at least.

My impression has been from both the practice reports and from Pruitt is that Middleton is coming along fast but doesn't have any D-1 experience. He, Williams, and Simmons are in the group with ability, don't know what to do (but learning with 9 practices in) and have no experience.

Not listed in that opinion piece are Harris, Bumphus, and Blakely. Harris redshirted last year and I think Bumphus and Blakely were both on the other side of the ball.

So there you have it. I think it will probably be Butler, Emerson, & Middleton unless Solomon gets his waiver in which case Solomon will take 1st team snaps from either Butler or Middleton. Butler could have the edge over Middleton simply based on being in the system for 2 years compared to Middleton's 2 months. Williams, I don't know where he figures yet. The adjustment may be more challenging for him that I expected. Still, I think we have 16 more practices and 2 more scrimmages before game week gets here so we wait and watch and speculate and here on VolNation we don't charge each other subscription fees. We are such fools. jmo.
You’ve gotta think about 3-4, 3-3-5, 4-2-5, 4-1-6, 4-3 Bear, 3-4 (Leo) and all the places in special teams.

Some of those packages are on 3rd and long and it’s just rush the passer and watch out for a screen. Not a ton of coaching up other than “go get him”. Same for obvious run downs with Middleton and Simmons needing to use their natural bignessness.

But I like how there’s enough diversity they can go out and put out some frightening giants out there or some sneaky speed. But mostly we won’t hopefully get shoved around. That’ll be great.

I get that but to be fair I haven't really heard a good reason why Solomon deserves a waiver other than some other players got one and we really need him. I hope he gets it but I don't know why everyone thinks he deserves it.

Cause this is UT and we are special and we need him to play more than other folks need their transfers to play and Go Vols, and we are rebuilding and need all the help we can get, and go Vols , and we deserve it after going through 5yrs of Lyle, and, and , and , ................. :p

I honestly have no clue but here's what I just keep thinking

We've picked up and forgotten some speed guys, some height and some elusive talent. We spent last year running a limited few plays repeatedly with very little success. My thought, Chaney's not having any of that.

He will find a way to use whatever strength we have and we'll probably see new plays and targets added every week.

I LIKE IT!!!!! AND HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT!

It would make sense we get a commit. Last one we got was on my 12 year olds bday (Hyatt). My second son turned 10 today. Obviously these guys respect the hell out of me (naturally) and want to commit on my kids bdays as a show of respect.

How many kids you got?

Please be 25.... Please be 25..... Please be 25......

Any truth to the rumor that the NCAA has already denied Solomon's request and TN hasn't announced it yet because they filed an appeal and are waiting on that? Would explain why it has taken so long compared to others.

UGA maybe about to get Kendall Milton and Zachary Evans in the same class. Kipp Adams put a CB in for him to go to UGA.
