I’m at 6-6, but can see the arguments for doing slightly better than that. I’m at 6-6 because the beat writers continue to harp on inexperience at the DL and because I think it’s fairly reasonable to assume JG will spend some portion of the season (at least a piece of key game or two) battling an injury. I don’t trust either of the backup QBs. I’m not exactly sure who we lose to other than blowout losses to Bama and Georgia, and probably a tough loss to Florida on the road. But I think there’s a decent chance we lose up to 6 games. I also think Georgia is transcending us as a program and we will be lucky to keep that game close most years for the foreseeable future, similar to how the Bama series is going.

So I'm guessing your wins are 3 cupcakes, byu, and uk?

What % chance do you give us to beat each of these teams:
Vandy -
Ms St -
USC -
Mizzou -
UF -

The Vols have multiple game losing streaks to each team on that list.

Their best shots at wins are against Vanderbilt and Miss State but in no way is beating either of them a certainty.

Losing to Mizzou, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia is more likely than not.

Why?? It would certainly be relevant if they were 12-0 last season and returned most of the starters.

If it’s relevant for a 12-0 team it’s certainly relevant that they were 5-7 last season.

Second list is just merely opinions not facts.

He's talking deductive reasoning. You cannot make any deductions about the future, things that have not happened yet.

Loser mentality 🤪

You can throw them in for uga and bama too if you wish.

He is having ongoing back issues and can’t get them to resolve. He had to make the best decision for him and his body. It wasn’t a decision made lightly. He had even considered retiring after having multiple concussions but decided to tough it out. So, it wasn’t because of hurt feelings or depth chart issues. I could go on and on, but I know Nate. And I know he’s a good kid. And I know his true intentions towards his team and his teammates. I know what his coaches said to his parents just last week when they were praising him for doing everything that was asked of him. People will believe what they want. But I know what I know.

Thanks for the peak behind the curtain on his issues. But since this is a message board and everyone has an opinion here is mine.

Back injuries are the EASIEST injuries to fake. I’m not saying that is what he is doing I am just saying this from years of experience of studying the human condition.

You go to the doctor and say “my back hurts”. Ok, let’s get an X-ray/MRI. Nothing shows up. “My back still hurts”. Let’s try Physical Therapy. “My back still hurts”. Let’s medicate the symptom. “My back still hurts”. Doctor says...”I don’t know what to tell you”

From my observations unless something comes up like a bulging disk/arthritis in the first case it’s in the mind or in the heart!

Feel free to come @ me i don’t mind not changing my opinion unless you have a compelling argument.

I did give a prediction. I said early on that 6-6 is reasonable outcome for this team. But, that’s not a given unless they can end the 3 game losing streak to Vanderbilt which I’m not certain that they will.
Logic isn’t a given. Logic says you ain’t gonna let this go no matter what anyone says. Truth says, you are assuming and predicting like everyone else. Some choose to talk about exciting things such as a bigger, faster, and stronger team; others choose to talk about statistical beat downs and use historical data to drive the narrative home, but never fear there is always one small arrow of hope. All of this is ok to focus on because it’s sprinkled with decades of undying fandom.

Please.

So you don't know either way and choose to insult the kid by implying the worst. Smh this place is a real shizshow today

Yes, we know several things with 100 percent certainty.

1. Pruitt is the Head Coach.
2. The Vols are a member of the SECE.
3. The Vols are coming of a 5-7 season and 2-6 in the SEC.
4. The Vols are scheduled to play 12 games this season. These we know for certain.

These are beliefs, assumptions and inferences and NOT facts.

1. The Vols will be better this season because of OC Chaney.
2. The Vols will win more games this season because they look better getting off the bus and in drills.
3. The Vols will win more games this season because they are a year older.
4. The Vols will win more games this season because of the weaker schedule.
5. The Vols have more 300 plus linemen this season than last so they will win more games this season.

I could go on but I won’t. The Vols certainly could be better this season but they will need to prove it on the field by beating teams that they have been beating.

This logic applies for just about any team in any sporting event. Kind of a stretch to defend yourself.

I didn’t insult the kid...I actually spoke highly of him when he released his statement calling it “classy”. I’m saying in my observations is that if the medical staff cleared him to practice/play...it was his decision to hang it up. Let’s sit back and see if we see Nathan on the sidelines supporting or sitting in the stands. That will tell us a lot!

Not yet, because the only solid evidence that I have is that they lost (in blowouts to each except SC) last time they played.

Based upon what I saw last season it won’t be easy for the Vols to get a win from that group.

I don’t want to come at you. There is no need. You are entitled to feel how you feel. He has seen the team doctor, a specialist, and has had appropriate testing and procedures. His did not fake having back problems. If you go back to the Spring, you will find snippets from other sports reporters talking about how Nate was dealing with back issues in the Spring, but he impressed his coaches with his toughness by pushing thru the pain and playing anyways. That’s pretty much all I have to say on the subject anymore.

Logic consists of inductive and deductive arguments. Since it is impossible to make a deductive argument for the future record of a football team, an inductive argument is necessary.

You also cannot deduce from last year’s results how this team will fair. So, it appears we are both in the inductive argument game here. However, my argument is not predominantly opinions, but even when they are they are strong, and ones which I would say are cogent.

Multiple recruiting classes of Pruitts players. - not an opinion.
A staff full of highly respected teachers and past winners. - not an opinion the staff has 16 Nattys combined.
2nd year of consistency in the weight room. - not an opinion.
2nd year of HC duties for Pruitt. Not an opinion.
A big time upgrade at OC. - an opinion, but not one that anybody is disagreeing with.
One of the most experienced QBs in CFB. - not an opinion.
Returning almost all of our production on offense which has shown to lead to much improved results on the field. - not an opinion.
The much improved confidence of every player and person surrounding the program is visible and audible. - sure, an opinion, but still supportive of an inductive argument.

There are little arguments behind each of those statements which I could very well support in manner I think would be strong and convincing, but please, don’t make me do all that here. Lol
