That’s tough. For now I’ll go with 6 as the absolute minimum, but I’m not 100% I’d call it successful.

Now if we include recruiting and how we look in losses. I’d definitely call a 6-6 season with a top 10 class and competitive vs everyone except Uga and Bama successful. Year 3 is where we gotta see a pretty big jump imo
I'm with you.
I can set a floor but have zero idea on successful until I have an idea what we're working with. Can freshmen have a sizeable impact? How many of them pan out? Does depth play into things? OL?

Or vice versa. Thought I knew what would make 2015 successful but the team was better than I thought. Wins was in line with predicted "success" but I was a little disappointed at season's end.

I'm just gonna let it play out, then proclaim
"I knew it!" 😎

It's probably a little too early for football predictions, but here's one for you guys:

Tennessee need to win at least ___ games in 2019 for yourself to feel like it was a successful season.

7
4 OOC games
3 of these: MSU, VU, UK, MU, USC
(Play respectably in losing to our 3 biggest rivals: Bama, UF, UGA.).

7 would make me extremely happy. But I expect a lot of freshmen to be playing, so I will be satisfied with 6 and a bowl game.

6, but I want to see an uptick in recruiting and noticeable development by returners in the trenches too. If we win 6-7 games in spite of the OL and DL not looking any better and finish with another class where we miss out on so many guys the staff prioritizes, then I could see myself being somewhat disappointed.

This. I think they can win 8 or 9, but never know how injuries can impact us. Losing Trey last season changed the dynamics big time.
I think we’re capable of 8 or 9 if the schedule plays as easy as it appears it could. But no matter how our schedule gets cut it seems to always end as one of the toughest in the SEC.

If we have the staff we need, then we should have 8 wins. Good staffs generally show massive improvement in year 2.
Yep. The culture change alone should be obvious. In Kirby’s first year his defense was doing what Pruitt talked about this year: tip toeing around. His second year they were aggressive and violent, flying around. We should see that same thing.

Chaney will improve the offense tremendously because, let’s be honest, Helton was terrible. He was predictable and never seemed to have a plan.

Schedule is easier also. We should expect 8 wins imo.

This signing day is shaping up just like last year. Had a great early signing period with big targets (Carvin, Banks, DWA in 2018, Crouch, Gray in 2019) but stumbled down the stretch failing to make any headway with a major target. Well land Wright who, just like Peterson last year we all knew was coming, but won’t add anyone of note.

Wright is a huge get and we have very few spots anyway. ESD has taken all the wind out of the NSD sails. I will lament Toots but I get it. As for Russell, not a big deal at all.

I'd agree about Russell if we were in on Asante, but we need a another LB in this class, especially if we don't pull Toot.

Signing one linebacker the each of the previous classes isn’t good. We need guys there. A&M and AU both want Russell. He’s a good player

Vandy, UK, and Mizzou I think have rougher seasons based on who all they lose.

But having Bama, Georgia, & Florida on the schedule every season is tough.

OOC looks great, no road games there. I also like where the byes fall, between @Florida & Georgia and between @kentucky & @Missouri. So just 4 road games, and none are in back to back weekends.
