Either one of these would seem like homeruns to me...

Chaney - OC/TE
Friend - OL/running game coordinator
Tee - QB/ passing game coordinator
Neidermeier- RB
Johnson - WR

Or

Lebby - OC/RB (bring in Briles system)
Friend - OL/running game coordinator
Tee - QB/ passing game coordinator
Neidermeier- TE
Johnson - WR
If you have a run game coordinator and pass game coordinator separate of the OC, then what’s the OC going to do beside call plays on game day? Seems like too many voices imo.

I don’t think the plan, at this moment, is to make two hires.

So what I think we’re seeing here with new rumors is that Pruitt knows Lebby and Tee aren’t worthy of the full OC role. Hiring either one of them leads me to believe Friend would also get a bump up.

Of course, to hire Chaney, Sark or someone on that level, you won’t be able to make them “Co” anything. They’ll want full control. Which I believe was also sold to Helton but ultimately ended up to not be the case.

Lots of teams have similar set ups. Basically a title to justify the money to hire/keep a guy. Lebby was running game coordinator at Baylor and something like passing game coordinator at UCF. Urban Meyer has always thrown around running/passing game coordinator and co-coordinator titles like candy.

Maybe they are waiting on this coach’s convention to find someone like Weinke a soft landing so they can proceed with one of these two hire moves.

With all this dog talk, we need a clean-up in aisle 9!!!

LOL!!!

No doubt. I’m just wondering if he officially was labeled as co-OC? He had it at CSU but if I remember correctly he was associate head coach here last year.

Anyway, it’s why I’m so high on Friend getting the job straight up. Because he’s going to be part of crafting the offensive game plan anyway.

Here’s how I’m hoping this plays out given our new information:
Friend: OC/OL
Weinke: QB
Johnson: RB
Tee: WR/Co-OC/Pass game coordinator
Neids: TE

There are ways to play with this too. Tee can coach QB’s and keep the passing game coordinator title. He could also coach RB’s and move Weinke to QB’s.

I’m also guessing Lebby would be the first call to replace Weinke. Or, vice versa, you hire Lebby and Tee is the first call if Weinke leaves.

IDT Friend has an official title other than OL Coach, even though he's involved in more than that. And I think it would take a sweet deal and swallowing some pride to get Tee to UT. He wanted to be offered the HC job last year and already has OC offers. He'll be off the market soon.

Does anyone find it interesting that @Atlanta VOL said Thursday that the OC search was heating up, and then yesterday Ron said a poster on VQ said it will be Chaney at 4 years and $7.5 million? Add to that the Stay Puff man reference from Ghostbusters that we all thought might reference Chaney. I’m thinking it’s Chaney until it’s not.
The Stay Puff man in Ghostbusters was created by film artist with the last name yuricich... Yurcich was supposed to be our OC hire and Ohio State came in and he went there instead.

I don’t think he has any high level OC offers.

He’s looking at WR coach offers from Louisville and GT.

Jesus Christ y’all just don’t give it up with that guy.

I'm good with that. As much as I like Tee, i think he has an inflated sense of self worth when it comes to his coaching skill set. The guy has never really been an OC and he thinks he's qualified to be a head coach at any Power 5 program? It's been reported he's turned down HC opportunities at smaller schools because he thinks they're beneath him. My advise to Tee would be go prove yourself on a smaller stage before thinking you are worthy of a big job. Or go and actually be a coordinator, a real coordinator on the big stage. If he's butthurt over being disrespected by Butch, well, Butch is gone. If he's holding that grudge over his alma mater, then screw him. Go and earn some reputation. The only thing he's proven at this point in his career is that he can recruit. There's more to coaching than recruiting.
