The head coach of the Vols has interviewed former LSU and Maryland offensive coordinator Matt Canada, sources told GoVols247 on Thursday afternoon.

Canada, who spent the 2018 season as the interim coach for the Terrapins, made a good impression on Pruitt, and while sources close to the situation indicated Pruitt likes Canada, no offer has been extended.

Pruitt still wants to speak with more coaches about the vacancy and plans to interview other candidates for the job, sources told GoVols247.

Sources also told GoVols247 that Pruitt has not spoken to former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisianabout the offensive coordinator job at Tennessee, though it's not yet been determined if the former Alabama assistant and USC head coach will interview with the Vols.

Currently no interview has been scheduled between Tennessee and Sarkisian.

I don't think he's lost. May have thought he had Yurcich. May just believe he's got plenty of time. And he does. He'll have someone before the 10th imo.

Doug Matthews seems to believe there is a good chance Weinke becomes the QB coach no matter who we hire as OC.

After all of this, after Freeze and 1,000 others, Yurcich, after Sark, if Pruitt defaults to Friend (who didn't want it originally), this will be a complete fail in my book. You have all these options to bring in someone good that could improve/jumpstart this offense and attract higher-tier recruits, and you go back and promote within?

Looks hella lazy. Oh well, Pruitt is about to take a huge chance with the fanbase on this one if it is Friend... I hope for his sake it somehow works out because he is about to open himself up to serious, and warranted criticism if it doesn't work out... Helton to Friend... hmm... if so, good luck, cause no one should be giving him a pass after this, looks a bit weak to me, and very surprised if Fulmer is signing off on this. Time will tell!
