He was looking back and jawing at the chasing Purdy..that is why he was holding the ball out in front like that...like he was playing keep-a-way. Rewind and watch again.
We see the same clip? I watched it more than once and didn’t see what you claim. He was well in front of the nearest pursuer and barely slowed going into the end zone. No taunting. If they wanted to call excessive celebration, it would have still been bs but not make you question the ref’s eyesight.

Anything short of this, just let ‘em play:

But even then, don’t call the TD back (unless it’s Florida, Georgia or Bama scoring on us — there are always exceptions 😁).

Absolutely! The rule was put in place to quell that 90’s era Canes garbage! Player gets more excited than Stanley from the Office and bluehaired testosterone deficient busybody’s get out of whack.

I remember right around the time the rule about being able negate a TD based on celebrations came into being because CP wound up getting one of his called back during a game. That was the first and last time I saw refs actually negate a TD. (Haven't seen the clip of the recent controversey and didn't know you could have one called back for taunting -- is it essentially the same penalty?).

At any rate, 9 times out of 10 unsportsmanlike conduct can and should be called instead. Negating a TD is stupid when the penalty occurs AFTER the TD has happened.

15 yard assessed on the kick is enough deterrent. A second gets the same, plus ejection.

Fair, in my eyes

Did y'all see where that douche bag dad down in GA killed and buried his children in his back yard? Worked as a Santa at Walmart. And, there is a town in GA named Effingham? That's effed up.

It was a dumb rule.
