You’re late. The news is that Wright canceled his visit to Ga and he hinted he might do something this weekMight be on commit watch or some other big news coming. Austin Price started a thread and didn’t say anything but just a gif that has a rep for being used when something good is going on.
It’s been up for a while and there’s a lot of posts in the thread, so it might be revealed what it is but I’m actually busy today and haven’t had a chance to see.
I would be 100% stoked if he brought Probst on in an analyst role. One more year and he can.I do think Pruitt would like to bring on Propst in some capacity. If it weren't for the NCAA rules, I think Pruitt would hire Propst as an analyst and see where it goes. The reality is, analysts are on the sidelines and do much more than they're intended to do, and the NCAA has been passive about it. Saban has been masterful at using this strategy to inflate his staff. JJP just makes hiring Propst a bit trickier.
Just because you’re a great coordinator doesn’t mean that translates to being a head coach at all. It has nothing to do with losing the games. It’s the way his team completely quit. Blame the players all you want but that falls back on the coach too.
Also he hired Helton and couldn’t get a long with him. He ran him off whether that is for better or worse.
He also fired Gillespie is a better recruiter and RB coach than Weinke.
I’m not saying I’m done with Pruitt or i don’t think he can win but he has to be better for us to win games. What he’s done so far isn’t cutting it.
Could there not be buyout implications as far as certain dates? I mean what if the buyout drops by 50% if the coach is employed on a certain date? There's little advantage to UT holding off announcing a new OC so he can receive a bonus at another school. Bowl bonuses aren't that big for assistants and if a coach's contract is set to expire at the end of the year, the remaining salary due will be around two weeks pay (and it's usually a % of that). For highly-paid OCs, that's probably under $10K-- small potatoes to UT.
The real cost of a deferred announcement is the potential loss of early signees, especially offensive playmakers who'll want to know how they're going to fit into a new offensive scheme.
It's not really much insight. We're just dealing with a new HC finding his way. It's positive that Pruitt is adapting and evolving and not as positive how it's playing out with fans and the media. Given UT's past coaching searches, the process and public perception could have been managed better, but media relations and PR aren't UT's strength.
as far as wins/losses go over hte past decade, there's a lot of programs that fall in that category.LSU hired Ed Orgeron....... they are still a better program.
