It is surreal...like being trapped in a recurring nightmare.
Ditto here... except for this caveat... Pruitt must go to bowl next year and he'd better beat Vandy or he will enter 2020 no on the hot seat. But here is the good news.
1. We regularly out recruit each program, and should continue to do so.
2. We have quality coaches who should be able to develop those recruits (where Butch failed)
This leads us to the natural conclusion...
3. It’s a matter of time.
Whether we rise to the level of Florida and UGA is to be determined, but we should absolutely pass the other 4 in a minimum of 3 additional seasons
The funny thing is that I think that about UGA. They will choke every single year. As good as they have recruited, they probably won't win the big one. Of course, I am biased because I want them to fail miserably. Those fans are the most delusional in the country.I'll be anxious to see how this class closes. Someone posted something a while back a thread from a Georgia board and it was just dozens of posters saying the same thing, that Pruitt can get them to campus but cant close. Maybe that was just salty/nervous Georgia fans, idk but that is essentially exactly what happened last cycle. Of course, he only had 2 months or so to fill the class so...who knows. I just really, really hope we don't end up being the bridesmaid for a bunch of the guys (Pappoe, Gray, Wright, etc.)/
They are horrible, no doubt about that. I hesitate to ascribe that to Georgia though in that just because a program HAS been a certain way over the years doesn't mean it always will be. Kirby Smart isn't Mark Richt and with the way Georgia recruits, I think its just a matter of time. Especially if Saban were to leave Alabama anytime soon. The funny thing is that I think that about UGA. They will choke every single year. You are right, it is different with CKS. But they choked in the National Championship last year. They choked against LSU. I realize they are a young team this year. I guess my point is more about their fans. They have always thought they were better than what they are. UGA is on a different level than us right now but a couple years of Pruitt players will have us feeling better. I know that this year ended on a low note for us but if we give CJP enough time we will all be happy fans. Maybe I am in the minority but I would rather have CJP any day over CKS. We have to be patient. The thing I can't fathom is the players that just did not care. I think back to my Daughter's last high school basketball game and how that team felt. We made it to the 2nd round of state and lost to a team we should/could have beat. They were devastated. I cant imagine D1 players dancing on the sideline when getting the crap beat out of them. I feel so horrible for the players that bought in that had to endure the laziness and lack of effort of some of these guys. It is one thing to lose to a better team but to lose because there were a lot of guys who didn't want to play in a bowl is sad. They are horrible, no doubt about that. It all just comes down to culture. That sort of attitude was bred and nurtured by the last staff. It is going to be a painful, multi-year process to get it out. I agree, Georgia fans are unbelievably entitled for their relative lack of championship hardware. You are right, it is different with CKS. But they choked in the National Championship last year. I think this is exactly why UTAD has not felt compelled to pony up big money and hire us a proven, winning program rebuilder staff. We are too loyal. We assume that a Bammer who has never been a head coach before is going to sign top recruiting classes and win championships here just because he's our coach. If UF had hired CJP and we'd wound up with Mullen, we would all be mocking their hire. Some posters here like to bash on our fanbase, but as I see it the only thing this program has going for it is the fanbase's loyalty and their passion for the memory of championship football.Maybe I am in the minority but I would rather have CJP any day over CKS. probably already posted but new to me.
