I'm still think, and I know it's not a popular opinion, that JG didn't necessarily win the QB competition. I think this staff looked at the bigger picture. Meaning they probably felt if they started KC this year than JG would transfer leaving us in a bad spot next year. So they decided to suck it up this year. The math just doesn't add up to me with JG. Besides his toughness he has shown me literally nothing that indicates he can be anything better than an ok game manager. It's not that I don't like him. It's just that he is never going to be a leader on this team. I wish he could but he's not.

The much likelier answer is that Chryst is just really bad and JG is the starter by default. Not sure why so many people are in denial of that.

It’s so weird. They are in a position to win now. But they have drafted QBs in back to back years 4th and 2nd rd. And they found juju in the 2nd then turn around and draft another WR in the 1st this draft. They are trying to win now but drafting things they aren’t weak at.

They drafted a safety in the first this year but did draft a WR in the second.

They were comically slow. I do think we lack speed on offense tho. We have a bunch of solid and good skills guys but we need at least one of them to be special.

Lately UT seems to produce a bunch of guys who don't do much in Knoxville but end up getting drafted and/or being UDFA and making NFL teams and producing. Look at Jason Croom, completely mismanaged his entire career and now he's catching TD's on Sundays for Buffalo. Alvin Kamara was a backup to Jalen Hurd for a couple years and now he's one of the best RB's in the NFL. Plenty more examples.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Callaway was drafted in the later rounds next year, starts for an NFL team, and has a nice career. Same with Taylor, Bituli and Warrior (whether they come out early or wait another year.). Thunder5 is spot on.

Exactly my point...I don’t think any of these players have actually played their way into a surefire draft pick...but they’ll chance it for a shot at the money rather than stay another year with a coaching staff they didn’t commit to/sign with in the first place...this is not an uncommon thing when there’s a coaching change...and in our case, these players have seen the Crooms, Kamaras, Ellis’ and Coleman’s underachieve at UT and still get paid in the NFL
