We played like we havnbt been coached in 4 years. Thanks butch. Meanwhile he is at bama getting paid. Kind of makes me think it was set up to happen like this. Conspiracy theories.
Just to rub salt in the wound, we're paying him a lot more to coach at Bama.

Throw away year. .500 if we are lucky next year. May by yr 3 we will have a few linemen and build this team the Bama way, if Pruitt can recruit. Of course this could be expedited a little if we hit on a star QB (Shrout) or someone in next year's class. Otherwise its going to be a slog.

Hate Pennington but love when Overstreet is on the show breaking down the OL.
On the safety -
Not a single OL got on the other side of the L.O.S. in the attempt.
UF knew exactly where we were going with the run, their mlb took steps towards our left side before the snap because they had already discovered that we have no other option in those situations.

On scheming to compensate for the OL -
Basically, you can't. You can roll out etc; for a play or 2 but you can't do it an entire game or half,. whatever. Once you play your cards a couple of times, then their defense just compensates.
Bottom line, we need SEC talent on the line, not tricks to try to mask it.

Disagree on the point about OL to some extent. You can’t completely make up for a bad OL. You’re just gonna have some negative plays with an OL like ours. But good OCs will vary your playcalling so that defenses don’t know what’s coming and try to implement some plays that don’t ask too much of the OL.

Rolling out 5-6 times a game isn’t unreasonable. Do a couple rollouts and then you can slip a FB or TE on a wheel route sometimes. You can do PA rollouts. Can’t do it every play, but there’s no reason not to incorporate that into an offense that struggles so much up front.

Some teams with bad OLs just emphasize bubble screens, quick slants, and RPOs to kind of take DLs out of the game.

What you can’t do is be so predictable with your playcalling that defenses know there’s an 80% chance they can sell out for the run. Or only call screen plays in obvious 3rd and long situations where the defense knows a screen or draw is the one thing anybody who’s ever watched football knows to look for.

The first TO was on JG UF was in an obvious all out blitz look and he held onto the ball too long.

Uh, no. The first int we kept 7 in to block. Florida had 5 rushing the QB. DWA came down the line to block a defender, and Tim Jordan ran up to help block the same defender, letting #99 run right by him untouched. JG had the ball less than 3 seconds and was in the throwing motion when he got hit from behind.

1:33 mark here.

Fault JG all you want but be fair. Happened routinely last night where we kept 6-7 guys in to block 4-5 defenders, and the QB was getting killed back there still.

Thats what I was trying to say. Year 1 3-9 Year 2 4-8 dependong on OOC schedule. Year 3 6-6 be competitive and beat 2 of 3 USCe, UK, Vandy. Year 4 7-5 or 8-4 while being competitive with UF and the west opponent not named Bama. Year 5 8 or 9 wins and be competitive with everyone on the schedule. I dont think this is unreasonable

Pruitt will be fired if he goes 3-9, 4-8, 6-6 and 7-5

I dont know what our offensive strategy was last night other than to ask people to do stuff they cant do, get mauled, and lose the game.

There are things you can do to mask deficiencies on the offensive line. Keep the defense off balance, make them play assignments, and avoid situations where they can go full pass rush with no worries. What I saw looked about as dumb as forcing Worley to run the read option.

You have to play with the hand youve been dealt
So much this. I get wanting to establish an identity, but the best OCs adjust their scheme and philosophy to what they have to work with each season.

Right now it looks like we have a guy who has learned some good schemes and plays in former stops but doesn’t have much of an idea of how to adjust them to his guys.

I went and watched your video. I want to know what Jordan was thinking he looked at the guy and then turned inside. But if we were running a slant again which i think we were I still think JG shouldve been in his throwing motion sooner

First INT happened because OL failed to protect JG and failed to chip the DL that caught the ball, or you could argue that JG held onto the ball a little too long. Second INT was just a great read by the defender, $&@! Happens. All those fumbles had ZERO to do with play calling. The reality is that if you take away the turnovers, that game is at least going to the 4th quarter.

First INT was a blitz. JG had to realize that. You are ignoring what was an issue last night.

I knew we were running every first down, and I have never played football.

Not ignoring it. JG’s failure to recognize blitz and play calling are two different things as well.

JG also knew he had plenty of blockers to take on the blitz. Jordan screwed it up.

We got to quit trying to run it down people's throats. Run 1sr and 2nd then obvious 3rd Down throw is just too predictable with a bad OL. Need to start throwing to set up the run. Throwing in 1st down or 2nd somethin different.

It was a blitz. 5 rushers. Had 7 guys in to protect. Tim Jordan let #99 run right by him. Had he even chipped him, the ball would've been thrown.

That wasn't on JG, but whatever. Haters gonna hate.
