He still lives up there. Hardly comes home to visit. I went over a couple of years ago when he was speaking to the QB Club. You would of thought you were at a OSU Booster club pep rally. He's a nice enough guy but gosh he reeks.

I case it wasn't common knowledge, he's from Knoxville. He graduated from Powell. He was a decent player but Tennessee showed no interest and he went to Iowa or Iowa state to play after serving in the military. Pretty dang successful coach. His sister-in-law passed away recently and I didn't attend the funeral (didn't hear about it until it was too late), but I'm pretty sure he did.

There are delusional fan bases in several places who we all know. Having lived up there for a time I have to say I dislike theirs worse than even Bama's. At least Bama has legit teams. OSU plays in a second tier P5 conference and the media makes the path as smooth as possible for them. They only have to gear up for a couple games per year. They are as corrupt as it gets inside and outside the program. Contrast that with our Vols, who get torn apart by local media and their own donor base at times. Seems to me there is this happy spot in between the two somewhere that we need to find.

I remembered the Cooper story somewhat along with his coaching days. Thanks for sharing.

So, question a lot have been asking --- Was our D talent that bad and handcuffed by Butch, or is Miss St.'s talent on D that much better? Recruiting rankings say otherwise...Same D coordinator.

Shoop didn’t forget how to coach up a defense. Go figure. Weird, When you have a D line with a pulse it’s amazing what you can do.
