So he does have a medical redshirt available.Pruitt speaking notes from vq
Pruitt says that Wednesday's practice was 'lively' despite being indoors.
Says that Kennedy's injury was just unfortunate, no one 'rolled up on him' or anything of that nature. Said that Kennedy is in good spirts, plans to come back. Confirms it's an ACL.
Pruitt adds that this is exactly why they move guys around so much. Causes growing pains during fall camp because it hurts continuity but they're better prepared to deal with it because they have shuffled guys so much. Says Ryan Johnson likely to be the guy there.

Pruitt says that Wednesday's practice was 'lively' despite being indoors.
Says that Kennedy's injury was just unfortunate, no one 'rolled up on him' or anything of that nature. Said that Kennedy is in good spirts, plans to come back. (1) Confirms it's an ACL.
Pruitt adds that this is exactly why they move guys around so much. Causes growing pains during fall camp because it hurts continuity but they're better prepared to deal with it because they have shuffled guys so much. Says Ryan Johnson likely to be the guy there. (2)
Says they're looking hard at other guys in the secondary this week, says that starters for last game aren't simply entitled to start the next game. (3)
Feels like he has seen guys respond the right way this week, thinks that some guys got their eyes opened up on Saturday and have come out to practice this week with an attitude that he likes.
Asked about lack of pass rush from the edge Pruitt holds off on just throwing the edge guys under the bus, says there were a lot of reasons for it on Saturday. Felt like they didn't do a great job of covering to start with and also didn't really confuse Grier, he got it out quick. Does feel like they need to do a better job of finishing when they get a chance. (4)
Says biggest thing with JJ Peterson right now is that he's out off shape. 'Long way to go physically before he's able to play.' (5)
Says that he is stressing developing some depth on the DL, says that Emerson in particular has been working some on scout team and then rejoining the DL for more reps. Same with Mincy. Seems a little encouraged with them, just says there's no substitute for reps.
Says that administration aspect of the game went smoothly on Saturday, cited that a lot of the guys on the staff have previously worked together before so not altogether surprising. (6)
Stresses that this is a big week because of the old adage of making your biggest improvement between first and second game, believes there's 'a lot of truth in that.'
(1) Obviously sucky for both Kennedy and the OL. Hopefully he can come back and at least contribute next year. Sadly the idea of him being a solid starter for us may be fading with the bad injury luck.
(2) From L->R... Smith, Jahmir, Ryan, Chance, Richmond? Smith, Richmond, Ryan, Chance, Jahmir? Calbert, Carvin obviously in line to get time..
(3) Abernathy and Buchanan put on notice. Buchanon played too far off too much, and Abernathy couldn't make a tackle despite taking good angles.
(4) Man's got a point. Can't pressure the QB if he finds an open target in half a second.
(5) Never believe a word Rush Propst says ever again.. Between the "next week"s and "yeah he's following the S&C plan from home..", I'll never put any stock into that dude's word ever again.
(6) Hopefully they got it out of their system when we played 10 on the field during WVU's missed TD opportunity.. Outside of that hiccup, the game seemed to go very smoothly.
Except for the draw play on 3rd and 4 before the half after JG had found his rhythm
It doesn't matter how good this staff is...You can't make chicken salad out of chicken isht..well actually you can, but it taste like isht.I think the anticipation got to me.. I got really optimistic over the course of the off-season.
I'm not sold on another 4-8 or 5-7 season just yet, though.. If this staff holds any weight, we should still see some improvement down the stretch. I'll be interested to see if we can cobble some confidence together and revisit our progress after Florida.
Really sucks seeing everyone else beat the piss out of FCS opponents in their openers and we get clobbered like an FCS opponent. Hopefully this put a lot on tape for our guys to fix.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Mars Hill football team (0-1) were downed 28-7 by East Tennessee State (1-0) Saturday evening on the road.
The Lion defense, on the first drive of the game, forced the Buccaneers to attempt a 44 yard field goal. The kick from J.J. Jerman was no good. On their first offensive possession of the game, Austin Brown connected with Craig Rucker for a 15 yard touchdown pass to put the Lions up 7-0 with 5:55 remaining in the first frame.
Less than a minute into the second quarter, Jerman missed his second field goal of the contest, off of the left upright from 37 yards out. On the Lions' first drive of the second stanza, they were forced to punt, however, a botched fair catch from Quan Harrison was recovered by Chris Ferdinand. The Lions' offense took to the field once again, but on the first play of their new drive, a fumble gave the ball back to the Buccaneers.
With just over eight minutes left in the half, East Tennessee State was marching down the field. As Logan Marchi connected on a 17 yard pass to Harrison, the Lions forced another fumble by the hands of Trey Giles. Jaden King recovered the ball, however, the Lions were unable to take advantage, allowing the Buccaneers one more opportunity in the half.
In a four play, 69 yard drive, Kobe Kelley caught a 14 yard pass from Marchi to tie the game with 30 seconds left in the opening half.
At 7:23 of the third, the Buccaneers lost their third fumble of the game with Earl Adams recovering the ball on their 31 yard line. A stout defense by East Tennessee State prevented the Lions from capitalizing. The Buccaneers once again marched down the field through the Lions's defense and took their first lead of the game, going 90 yards in nine plays, capped off by a 30 yard touchdown pass from Marchi to Harrison.
East Tennessee State added two more insurance scores in the fourth quarter. Quay Holmes scored on a 10 yard rush and with less than 11 minutes left in the contest, Marchi connected with Evan Wicks for his third touchdown pass of the game.
