Nothing makes me special. You've pointed it out three times. I've not taken you to task for it either.

I just can't understand how you and others don't accept the fact that this rebuild is a monumental task and acknowledge that CJP doesn't have much experience under his belt to say he's capable of pulling it off. All I've said is the odds are stacked against him.

I've said many times our options were very limited when we made the hire. As they were when we hired Dooley. As they were when we hired Butch. I'm thankful that coach Pruitt took on the challenge (I believe I said that when we hired Dooley, and butch). It's not pruitts fault this was and still is a dysfunctional program. Hopefully that's getting fixed.

Oh yea, I distinctly recall a post from you saying you were not blindly buying into another coach. It's seems that has changed.
How has not losing our s*** over a loss to a ranked team been turned into “blindly buying into”? Sideways effort on your part.

Oh, so the guy you said "probably couldn't take the mantle of head coach fast enough" actually could wait and use discretion for the right opportunity?

I don't know what you're getting at here or why you're pressing this over a figure of speech. Vandy is a terrible job and I wasn't knocking Pruitt by saying that. I said it because he comes across as being a very confident guy who was more than ready to compete with the big boys (something he wouldn't have ever been able to do at Vandy).

Two things I saw on twitter today:

1. Danielson said today after watching practices and our game, we have no real difference makers.

2. Swain thought all off-season Butch had a worse roster when he took over, now he isn’t sure. He said at least Butch had a NFL caliber OL.

TIFWIW

What I was saying during our watch party. Cut down on the dancing and the path is right there. When Jordan did the one cut and hit it, he piled up the yards. What I liked about London and Banks during their limited time. Needed this game so that the teachers can use the film. You ain’t Barry Sanders, Tim...no one is.

Not if your reading what I have actually posted. At best, seven wins. Beat Florida because they actually do suck. Was almost at 7 wins last year as bad as things were. Earlier mentioned we would still have a few transfers and we will. Still several not buying in. But Pruitt has to be the answer or we will sink beyond what can be repaired. It’s sick how sick this program will be. I am not certain either way if he’s the right guy but so far, he has been. I am hoping we see improvement from game to game. Nothing has changed for me but I think we may have hired the best we could have hoped for with all the crap and still glad it ain’t Shitano who is our coach. We have a football coach and that is all I wanted. He’s going to teach his scheme and not take short cuts just to try and make us more pretty than what we are. I am at same place I was when he was hired. Beating WV was not to me what he had to do to be successful. Even picked WV to win in freaks pick em.

Not really, I've taken a wait and see approach from the day Pruitt was hired. You can thank Dooley and Butch for that. The game Saturday hasn't moved the needle one bit for me in either direction.

UGA and Bama games will be depressing to watch. The only reason I won't say auburn because they are always capable of a WTF are you doing game but with it being at auburn it's probably ugly too

Auburn's tough at home. But the game's after a bye week so that's one thing in our favor.

I'm honestly shocked by the amount of fans this game seemed to bring crashing back to earth. Maybe I have missed it in years past but this seemed to be the most grounded I have ever seen this fanbase prior to a season. It looked to me like most people were predicting between 5-7 and 7-5 (I picked 6-6 multiple times) and yet the meltdown that was ongoing even last night paints an entirely different picture.

The amount of hype people apparently secretly had for this tran is astonishing considering what I thought most of us KNEW we had. There are still people acting like our team coming out and looking a lot like last year was a surprise...how could anyone have not known that a brand new coach was going to struggle to drastically improve the worst UT team of all time? It just doesn't happen in the first year. If we look like this next year, THEN I will be worried but despite the fact that 90% of the board was predicting a mediocre year, it seems like a lot of them are really struggling to actually watch it happen in real time.

I think many people were secretly hoping they would be wrong when they predicted a reasonable 6-6 or 5-7. Turns out, they were exactly right. And that’s demoralizing.

I think you've misinterpreted what I've posted as well.

As many have stated, you can't claim him a failure based on one game. You also, by the same token can't claim him as the next savior. He didn't show me anything one way or another to come to any conclusion. I said many times that I like the guy and what he's done to this point. Just the absence of all the drama is refreshing. All I've said he's a very young and inexperienced coach to take on this monumental rebuild. I hope he's up to the task. He's shown me nothing that says he isn't.
I really wish you’d quit putting YOUR exaggerations on me. Next time I intimate “savior” will be the first. I didn’t see anything that hinted at coaching failure and we do know what that looks like.

Then I misinterpreted your words, because to me it came across as though you were suggesting CJP was desperate for a HC job and would take whatever came his way.

Nope! I get where you're coming from now, but I didn't mean it that way at all. More like he's just extremely confident and has been ready to be tapped for a legit P5 (likely SEC) job for quite some time.

Haha. Pot and kettle. I post he's inexperienced and you go full "you want him fired"! Go on, find where I said he was doomed for failure. You can't do it cause I didn't post it. And don't say probably not ready for the job is an indicator I expected him to fail. Grand canyon, evil kanevil leap on your part.

The coaching search was bungled yet again. Had Fulmer been AD we would have a proven P5 head coach right now.

Pruitt is still a decent hire and could certainly end up being very successful, IMO, but he's not really what this program needed. We're teetering on the brink of damn near permanent irrelevance, and we were forced to hire a coordinator with zero head coaching experience. It's a huge gamble at an extremely pivotal time for the program.

I agree. But the good thing is that he's surrounded by a lot of assistants that are proven to be SEC quality, so that helps imo.

Right now, IDT we do. This weekend doesn't change what I've always considered our path-- wins against 3 cupcakes, UK and Vandy and 2/4 out of WVU, UF, SCAR and Mizzou. And UF and Mizzou set up best because they're SEC games in Neyland.
Seems like a tall task for this squad. I hope we can

Yep. He also knows what successful programs look like and how they're run. He doesn't strike me as being someone who wants to do things in an unorthodox manner or who will overthink things, either (like Dooley or even McElwain, who sucked despite being Saban lackeys).

He probably wishes he could cut 80% of the roster and start from scratch lol
