Pruitt's not trying to build a fence around the state. This staff has been transparent about recruiting nationally and doing their own evaluations to see how players fit. If TN recruits don't want to camp and be evaluated, they don't get special treatment because they're in-state. This approach will inevitably rub some HS coaches the wrong way at first, but they should respect Pruitt's upfront approach. He's not BSing them, and that should be a breath of fresh air.

And to further your point, Butch would offer a lot of in state guys just to make it appear they were shutting the state down even if they weren’t system fits.

It was all about P.R. with Lyle. It seems like Pruitt just wants to win.

Yep. It will work itself out. I think someone posted the other day that VQ was talking about how this class in state hasn't wanted to camp but they've already got most of the 20 class into camp so after this year it shouldn't be an issue anymore. And the few we've missed out on so far that looked like can't miss (Hampton, Norton and Patterson) were likely never going to give us a chance anyway. Plus we got 2 of the best OL in the state already this year. And our out of state commits are looking real nice too. There is no reason for people to go out looking for something to worry about at this point. IMO

Another key point many keep missing is that Pruitt and his staff have much better relationships in other states currently. Recruiting is all about relationships and those take time to build. Pruitt and his goon squad have been building relationships in GA, Bama and other places far longer than they have in the state of TN. Add to that fact that Pruitt doesn't give special treatment to instate kids and it's no surprise that many instate '19 kids end up elsewhere. Now that will change in '20 and beyond, especially when he wins 7+ this fall and shows great progress on the field.

Definitely going to watch that. I saw a tweet yesterday that Hollywood producers have been flying into Chiang Rai the past few days trying to get the first rights to produce the movie of the rescue.

Yeah they talked about that in the article as well.

This is the lowest we'll be on this list. Mark it down.

Yep, what's not to like about their transparency and aggressiveness? We'll see how their approach works over time, but there's nothing at all to complain about right now.

I agree that Hampton, Norton and Patterson were our only legit targets to go elsewhere, and those guys were lost long before the current staff hit campus. There could still be an outside shot at Hampton, but I can't see Norton and Patterson flipping and I'm not sure we'll push all that hard. We'll probably move on to other targets. We have more options than spots.
