The problem with the Patriot, Gladiator, Braveheart, and Tombstone, is that none of them are historically accurate. If you just want to watch a fun action movie then they all have action, in varying degrees, but they all are very, very loosely based on history, although with Tombstone there has always been multiple sides to the story, so we really don't know how much truth inadvertently was included in Stuart Lake's supposed 'biography' of Earp.



For my likeability, I rate them -

Tombstone
Braveheart
Gladiator
Patriot

But all of them should be taken with a grain of salt as far as accuracy.

4. Million Dollar Baby
5. Every Which Way But Loose
6. Heartbreak Ridge (The movie wasn't that great but the Eastwood quotes are awesome)

I’m fine with artistic liberty as long as it’s not a documentary. “Based on actual events” is good enough for me

As I noted to Glitch, as long as it is an entertaining movie I can live with the screenwriters playing loose with the facts. I would prefer though that be acknowledged at the opening of any "historical' movies though, so viewers who don't know the real history involved don't think they are actually watching a real historical reenactment.

I love too many movies to ever definitively declare one of them as the greatest ever, but The Departed would certainly be in the discussion.

Josey Wales is my personal Eastwood favorite. A Few Follars More is my favorite of the trilogy. Then I’d say Pale Rider comes in after those. Very different type movie though.
