Do you guys really not understand individual stats? Chrysts aren't that much, if any better..while he played on a MUCH better team, with MUCH better OL, better coaching and better everything else around him...How is that so hard to get through your heads? I have said the exact same thing over and over again and yet you keep pointing out TEAM accomplishments?..I mean come on..I don't give a dang if he had went 13-0..HIS..individual play was below mediocre..that is why he is here, and not there.

Listen..I'm glad we got him because he is surely better than McBride and a true freshman who needs a few years of work to be ready.

Stanford hasn’t been as talented as they had been in years past. Even at their best they aren’t a top 3 team talent wise in the pac 12. Imo

Chryst Is better than people want to give him credit for. Have to take last yr with a grain of salt playing in the ACL less than half a yr removed. Same as JG have to take with a grain of salt with the crap offense.

Both were highly rated so potential is there for both of they seize it and are coached right.

I know Shaw is a good coach but what QB outside of luck has he made look good despite so many highly ranked QBs? Luck was a harbuagh inherit too.

At the moment I'm basically expecting a tougher bigger version of Dormady but in a pro style system from Chryst.

watch us argue about Chryst and JG then Shrout pulls a Tom Brady or some ish lol

I really don’t care who wins except for two things:

1. Just win baby
2. JG transferring if he loses the job. This could affect #1 in 2019.

If he isn’t starting and beating out a grad transfer then he has no chance of helping us win in 2019 if he stays.

Kevin Hogan was a really good college quarterback.

I don't really think it's that simple.

I take choice 2.

Choice 1:
Chryst starts and we win 7 games
2019 we win 7 games
2020 we win 8 games

Choice 2 :
JG starts and we win 6 games
2019 JG starts and we win 7 games
2020 JG starts and we win 10 games

Choice 3:
Chryst starts and we go 8-5 (including bowl win)
2019: Taulia Tagovailoa starts and we win 8 games
2020: Taulia Tagovailoa starts and we are in the CFB playoff.

This. Time to see if Pruitt can pass the marshmallow experiment (Stanford marshmallow experiment - Wikipedia)
If they’re even coming out of fall camp why sell our program’s future short for the “more experienced player”. Let JG develop under fire. I fully subscribe to the idea that the best way to develop a player is game reps.

It’s almost as though many of you have completely forgotten the development of josh Dobbs. All we ever heard was that he wasn’t good in practice and he didn’t really show much in his freshman season during games. However, the more he played the better he got. His second year he had some really great moments. It’s time to give JG his chance IF he earns it (which I think he will)

I don't go by individual stats with QB's...I go by wins. What is JG record as a starter? Chryst?
Really? Context means everything. JG played with garbage talent and horrendous coaching. Chryst played with good to great talent and very good coaching. Plus the sample sizes are different so this is a terrible argument to try to make

JG played with garbage talent? Check the recruiting rankings

Matt Stafford is better than 2/3 of the QBs in the nfl but has had butch jones level front office and coaching most of his career in Detroit. Don’t go by Ws and Ls to evaluate any player in a team sport.

Sarcasm? Star ratings mean nothing when there’s no development. he played behind a garbage offensive line so what little skill talent we do have wasn’t really able to get the ball. On top of that he played for a coaching staff that was incapable of effectively and consistently getting their playmakers the ball
