If you’re talking not being good enough to win the East, I disagree.

9 or 10 wins will probably be my expectation for year two. Win 6 or 7 this first year, look like a well coached football team, sign a top ten class, and I'm straight.

Favorite John Ward game: 1991 Miracle at South Bend

Fond memories of that game. The angry lows and the highest of highs. All capped by John’s call. Ah the days of turning down the TV and turning up the radio. Those days are gone and never to return. Losing John today makes those days seem farther away, but it will never take away the fond memories.

I belive many on the board had the expectation of winning the East.

I think you arguing for days with a couple posters is a different story and might be why you think the consensus was higher. I don’t remember it that way

I'd have scaled back with Dave Doeren no doubt. But your Swansons of the world would have already created gifs of him dancing towards a national championship sign every time we landed a 3 star recruit that we beat Ohio and San Jose State out for
