Obviously, academics scare me with Gooden. I wish we'd have gotten another linebacker, especially if we're switch to the 3-4. It's going to be a long comeback. Hopefully Pruitt is the man to do it.

I think we are seeing a power shift in this league. I think we are starting to see Alabama slip a tiny little bit. I expect GA to be the new power house SEC program and it wouldn't surprise me to see them go on a bama type roll. I don't think Kirby is that great of a coach but if he continues to recruit like this, it won't really matter.

I know its been said in a post before but I do believe recruits were afraid to take a chance on UT this year because of everything that has happened plus CP first HC job. They have got to see it on the field this year. I believe we have the players that can be coached up this year. As we all know they weren't while whats his name was here.

UT has dug a deep hole to climb out of while our East rivals are ascending. UF and SCAR are trending upward, too. The past year will set us back twice that.

I honestly think the circus of a search may have done more damage than how bad we were or because we didn't have Pruitt for a month. After all, Nebraska went 4-8 as well and didn't have their coach for that month either, put together a considerably more underwhelming coaching staff than Pruitt did, but is doing quite well today.

I think it's hard to quantify just how badly the university's reputation suffered by how poorly the search was handled and how public the dysfunction was.

Things I will be happy about now that the NCAA NSD has come and will soon be gone.

1) FF posters will leave - along with the many useless threads they create.
2) Trollers will be less interested in their craft with nothing much going on until SP.
3) Regulars will be less cranky with each other and post less angry comments.
4) The more reasonable fans will rediscover the art of learning to walk before they run. As Vol fans you support a program that went 4-8 with ZERO SEC wins last season. Just what did you expect to have happen with recruiting when two of three primary rivals played for the NC and the third hired a proven, winning HC from another SEC program that has won NC's as an OC at the school for whom he now works? Add in a NC winning HC from FSU going to aTm along with a strong recruiting HC returning to his FL recruiting grounds to take over in his place.

But most importantly,

5) I will now know the guys that want to play for the school I love. They are now VFL's and deserve my respect and support until proven otherwise.
6) I now know Fulmer is running things in the AD, so I know the football program will receive what it needs to do well. I know CJP and staff will get the most out the entire package because that is what CJP has done consistently throughout his career in his various roles. As a result I know future recruiting classes will likely be even better.
7) I watched Scott Frost take a bunch of no name players with the help of a no name coaching staff to an undefeated season including the sound defeat of an SEC program that had beaten both NC finalists in the regular season. So I know great development and coaching of players makes a big difference in the W/L column. I believe CJP will have that type of impact on UT. It will be tougher because the conference and schedule is tougher. But he is also working with a roster that is far more talented than UCF's. That tells me heart, focus, preparation, commitment and team work are the real difference makers.

1 & 2 can’t happens soon enough. On number 3, speak for yourself. I hate all of you equally.

Wowzer, if you haven't seen video of Copeland's announcement, you've got to check it out. He picks Florida and his mom immediately gets up from the table, grabs her purse, and walks out.

Number 1 thing that was learned today. Gotta start winning and winning big. Wvu and fl are huge games for the perception of the program going forward and gotta start beating south Carolina and frickin vandy and uk

florida didnt win big and they did just fine. same with fsu ( yes i know they won a title a few yrs ago).....we are just trash right now. Staff has lots of work to do. UF and UGA has big time classes and we have a top 5 in the pac 12 type class.

See you boys when the smoke clears. The groaning and freak outs is more than I care to read today.

On a side note, we should get the return of ChavisUt after this.

Peace out.

I agree, we just went 4-8, definitely trash. Winning fixes everything though. Everyone thinking Mullen was gonna suck at Florida was blind also. There gonna be real good again with him down there. Tennessee can be great again, but it starts in the weight room amd spring practices.. gotta show it on the field. Go 8-4 or 9-3 next year and Pruitt will have a top 5/7 signing class next year

Liked. I'm fine with the results given the circumstances.

The vocal minority of miserable vol fans will continue to wallow in their own muck no matter what.

Serious question for the cliff jumpers:

22nd ranked class with Pruitt and fulmer?

Or

8th ranked class with butch and Currie?

Comparisons to Butch Jones are not valid. For the 100th time, we are not competing with Butch Jones.

Does this class stack up with the top level SEC teams? No.

Does this class get us a step closer to competing for an SEC championship? No. The gap widened.

That’s the bottom line.

Class sucks. Disappointed and will pick up interest at first game. I don’t know if it’s me getting older or just kind of sick of watching these little prima donnas switch their pick back in forth but I didnt follow recruiting hardly at all this year and it’s been pretty nice.

Good this is over. Now he can move on with the 2019 class. All the hype is gone and he can recruit with no fan pressure. UGA didn’t go ballistic Year 1 under Smart. Same thing going on here. He’s got some pieces to help and he can build around that.
