Yeah he may have. I'm not sure.

I'm just talking generally. In hindsight I wonder if he would have been the best QB on the team last year. I'm sure Butch would have still started Dormady. Maybe Sheriron would have had similar struggles due to coaching and other team issues. But I thought he showed leadership qualities on the sidelines in 2016. He seemed to light a fire in the team in the Va Tech game that ended up being a big turning point.

He seemed like he had some swagger to him. We had very little of that at the QB position last year.

JG showed some ability to inspire his teammates late in the year. But by that point all was already lost. Hopefully he can build on that.

Just seems like the door to win that starting spot may have been more wide open for Sheriron than he may have thought when he decided to leave.

Also this was another aspect that bothered me about Butch. Games were never a chance to showcase our talent. We consistently did the bare minimum to win games we were supposed to.

I want to straight up destroy some of the lesser teams this year. I want to embarrass them. I want them to have nightmares of their trip to Knoxville. I want them to tell stories to their grandkids about how overwhelming it was to play Tennessee. I want them to beg for mercy and then be denied.

Butch always let his foot off the gas against lesser teams and got comfortable with small leads in games. That mindset ended up translating to bigger games in 2016 when we couldn't finish against good teams. That was supposed to be our year and he let his weak philosophy of playing nice and fair doom us.

You know that that is not his plan. We have not even signed one class and you're running him down based upon your interpretation of his philosophy. It's sad, really.
