Why do people try and individualize losing/winning so hard in team sports?

I’m not holding it against say Kobe that he couldn’t drag smush Parker and Chris Mihm to a playoff run. Although taking the suns to a game 7 was ridiculously impressive.

I don’t believe in the “rings” discussion with regards to Football & Baseball. Too many variables.

I do buy the “rings” discussion in Basketball. 5 players on the court. You play offense AND defense. Can affect the game on both ends.

Basketball greats are measured by titles.
