He is. IMO, JJ is the hybrid WR/TE they will use until the TE stable is fully developed. He is also the blocker they need downfield to break some runs.
He is what Croom should have been.
As in, Trey to LT and Richmond to G.. RG in particular? Isn't that where Trey spent most of his time last year?
I like the idea of moving Richmond inside and seeing what he can do there. Many of his struggles have been passblocking edge rushers. He kind of reminds me of Dallas Thomas in that. Thomas struggled as an OT for us early in his career, but became a legit NFL prospect once he was able to move inside.
Not sure Richmond has the same internal motivation that Thomas had though.
I totally get this. Im usually the same way. But Richmond has a track record here of not always being the hardest working guy we have on the OL. Hes one of the guys I have paid close attention to during the games hes appeared in here. His technique isnt great (which is a coaching issue), but hes also been prone to some of the type of mental mistakes you dont usually see from guys who are dialed in. His motor hasnt been consistent. Those are things that are more difficult to coach and often are indicative of internal motivation.Sorry to be the sanctimonious jerk, but I don't ever like questioning a kid's drive, unless it's made abundantly clear. For DR's case, it most likely boils down to really bad coaching.
We had like a zone blocking scheme before, right? I can imagine some hesitation and getting beat by speedsters outside if he's constantly having to check inside, because the guard next to him is constantly having to check the center.
He had a pre-practice interview this spring, where a reporter asked something along the line of "Is the change/transition kind of difficult at times?" and DR answered perfectly-- something along the lines of "It's not difficult if you want to get better." That sentiment takes all the uncertainty about his motivation.
Sorry again for lecturing :hi:
Just got through watching a replay of last nights game...
Depending on how the rest of this series goes...but if Bronbron keeps this level of play up till the series is over win or lose I will have to call him #1b. I will never put him above Jordan, but I'm getting close to calling it even.
The only thing that hinders me is the GS defense looks like garbage to me. I would like to see them at least try to put up some semblance of championship defense on him, I mean he isn't even having to try real hard.
Eeehhhhh
Far from the weak link that was expected. Pruitt is piecing things together.if Hall comes back and is your RT, and your starting 5 is:
Smith, Carvin, Kennedy, Richmond, Hall....that has potential.
depth is still an issue, so remaining healthy would be the priority. but that's 2 5*, and 3 4* guys up front. and your liability, a true freshman, is bookended by Smith and Kennedy.
i mean....i am not ready to say 'we're set', but that'd be as talented an O line as we've had in 5 years.
still some if's in there...Kennedy isn't here...yet. and while we're optimistic on Smith's health, it's still a bit of a question, and Hall's health even moreso. so, yeah, we got some wishin', hopin' and prayin' to do.![]()
