Recruiting Forum Football Talk LIII

Who cares? It's stupid and evidently led to concussion issues if GFW was correct. I apologize if I have him mistaken for someone else.

No one seemed to think it was stupid until now. I will let it go. You do have to hit in practice to get used to physicality. It is not a realistic football scenario, but it was designed to motivate the team and develop some physicality. Obviously, if we had more concussions because of it, then it was not the right thing to do.

the majority of the concussion problems we heard about the past 4 years started at the circle of life.

Also, on the Cochran info - would be program changing if he came. Oh my.

Can anyone who lives in Alabama give me the run down on the retirement program that was referenced above? Why would he be more willing to leave because he's vested into it? Thanks ahead

I totally missed this before. I retract my statements regarding it. My apologies to Chief and Kingston.

Retirement thing is significant because he wasn’t likely to leave before being vested. Now that he’s met the ten year mark he’s more likely to leave. Would have been foolish to leave before when he was so close.

It’s not so much about wanting to double dip. It’s that he was going to be leaving a ton of $ on the table by walking away a year early.

I can’t believe people don’t understand this.

Yes, we have championship expectations at Tennessee, but if you can’t objectively understand that some seasons you are not going to get there and need to adjust realistic expectations... well, I don’t know

Auburn went from record lows to playing in the NC game. It isn't unprecedented, but it isn't likely to happen. But if Pruitt can't get this team to 6 wins, I'm not sure he's going to get us to championships. The talent is there to get to a bowl.

I wanna see the team have some heart and fire like they seemed to in Jones's first three years, and beyond that...just let the chips fall where they may.

It helps that it can't be used as leverage anymore by Saban. It will simply come down to does he like what he is doing and good where he is at or is he hungry for another challenge. There is no greater challenge than fixing the mess of a strength program that Butch left behind the past two years.

He would be awesome to have and would these guys playing with hair on fire and looking like monsters

Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn are as close to sure losses as you can get.

I would put West Virginia, Florida, and South Carolina as favorites over Tennessee.

That leaves very little room for error if we want to make a bowl game.

Love it

Butch never had any of this stuff come out about him. He always had to hang his hat on Antonio and Kelce because he had nobody else. Antonio seemed more in line with coach Z than Butch anyway Loved trying to claim Jj Watt and Eric fisher but he never really coached both

We will beat WV and SC... FL is 50/50 to 60/40..............All this hinges on team health, coaching/scheme, and developing what we currently have on the roster...

Florida is not more talented at this point. We should have beat them by double digits in the Swamp. We get them in Neyland. Yes it's UF, I know.

I think we still have decent talent. I would like to see what can be done with decent coaching.

If we lose to florida, West Virginia and USCe Pruitt has done a bad job

Butch got his rear end handed to him by Derek Dooley, so...

Doesn't he make between $600k and $900k? Not sure what other retirement program you need.

Side note: I don't really like the smokey grays but your avi looks awesome... if we could get some orange-tinted or chrome-tinted visors for the helmets... sleek.

Are those legal anymore?

I totally agree we have decent talent. But the trenches are not in great shape, and we're changing schemes on offense and defense. It's not just going to be a plug and play thing.

I say do it and ask for forgiveness later... would be a minimal fine anyway... I would love to have chrome orange facemasks on the white helmets... keep the current uni and color scheme, but the chrome would look cool.. I have seen several teams using this.
