Recruiting Forum Football Talk LIII

I don't think we're having a great day by any stretch but it's going to take some time to get Butch's stench off the program. We did not win a game in the SEC this year. We finished last in the SEC. Like it or not, the perception amongst high level high school athletes is that Tennessee is closer to Vanderbilt than Alabama.

Let's sign two more today, one on Friday, and get through the dead period. We're going to have a full staff by the time Pruitt gets back in early January and we will blitz all remaining unsigned prospects with a fury few staffs will be able to produce around the country. Let's not judge this class until the final signing day.

I disagree. We have a 3.5 star average, if you don't count the punter, who is an all-american. That puts us in the top 15 nationally. Given the circumstances, I consider it a great day! We are still in the neighborhood of all our competitors, with time to make it even better before recruiting is over.

The headline is just bad timing. If it was written Monday, then I could understand. But, we just signed two 4 star players this morning along with flipping a QB. It's not exactly appropriate at lunch time today.

That, along with saying "Vandy is moving up" is just clickbait.

Yeah, they're hoping all 4 Vandy fans click on it.

Wait we are accusing posters of poor life accomplishments because of their internet post?

Agreed. Making sweeping judgments about a person's character or value based on message board posts is pretty weak.

Btw, If you get a chance, could you give Bass his fan card back? You've pulled it a couple of times this season and he was hoping to get it back before spring practice started.

Residual bitterness has surfaced again with Mays official to UGA. Has sparked a debate about whether or not they'll pound us for the next four years.

A debate on that would be preferable. At least it would involve the presentation of evidence toward a logical conclusion...as opposed to emotion driven hyperbole, or overt trolling.

It's pretty simple for me. If Pruitt can crack top 20 in the rankings, it's a win. I just can't fathom him having a worse class than Butch's first piece-milled which was No. 21 IIRC.

I assume they'e got a pretty Senior-laden team or at least will lose a lot to graduation and the draft. It will be interesting to see if they can re-gain their throne again next year.

Speaking of kids...that's what mine do when they don't get their way.

Even that is much more reasonable than if they were to throw a tantrum BEFORE they didn’t get their way because they THOUGHT they weren’t gonna get their way, all in the name of keeping it real.

THE key is developing talent towards a common mindset of coaches vision of the team. Butch couldn't do that. Kirby apparently can. So can many others.

Also, outside of having that killer D, it's the other common denominator is having a mid-upper tier QB. I thought we had two on team before last season, and while I hold out hope, am still not convinced we've got a difference maker. Certainly having an OL that can hold blocks for more than a half second helps.

Agree - all we can do now is win, winning solves everything. Hopefully Pruitt gets these guys in and develops them. What he's done in 12 days on the job is fairly astounding honestly

Where is Bass? He's not been around. Good for bringing stuff over and can be hilarious.

I agree.

The conversation about whether we'll compete for the east in two or three years begins and ends with the development of the OL.

NOTHING else matters if that doesn't gel. Nothing can overcome that.

I think this year was an outlier, but UGA is going to be tough...just like Bama is every year, and still manages to stay mortal enough to lose a game or two. I'm going to wait until Pruitt has actually conducted two or three practices before I declare him a failure.
