Why if you knew he wanted to come last Friday why didn't the VQ staff at least say he does want to come and will be in the future? The whole Monday night chat was utterly ridiculous when it came to questions pertaining to Thomas. "He still works at LSU", etc.

Because when Austin asked me to keep it off books I do what is asked of me. An LSU staffer tipped footballscoop off to it which is why it got out over the weekend.

I would love to see this class fill out with flipped commits from the schools our new coaches are coming from. Uga, bama, lsu, Florida. We've also expressed interest in specific commits at auburn, miss st, Kentucky. Raid the SEC!

Also nice to see interest in cali kids. Gotta recruit nationally in addition to the southeast. Makes those out of conference games worth while!

That’s why the little buttheads at 247 don’t get real scoops. They aren’t pros.

Can’t burn your sources. If someone wants you to hold something you hold it

That's a fine answer when the outcome is going to be positive and there's no potential blowback. It does however fly in the face of "I'm not a puppet of the AD" rant Hubbs went on when he knew Schiano was Currie's main guy.

Listen, on the whole I like VQ and am thankful for the work they do. And I do understand that sometimes you can't blabber everything you hear. But sometimes the gripe that they "know more than they say" and are "puppets" can be justified.

Trey probably will be the best O-lineman in America next year. Cade is good though and could help us immediately.

This.

I don't care if Trey is better than Cade. So what?

Cade is still really damn good, and could probably come right in and start at Guard, and help this team next year.

Bring him.

Does Stevens transfer? Don't recall him getting playing time with LSU last yr but maybe I'm wrong. He was a Pruitt fan and love thomas

Austin Thomas getting hired feels like one of those pie in the sky things that never would have actually happened in the past. Even though it makes all the sense in the world, we would have never gotten it done.

This program all of sudden feels so different.

Hubbs works for the Vol Network. He would be jeopardizing his first real job if he did certain things. He just happened to start a website years ago and uses his position to report news. It's a fine line. But he isn't a "puppet," yet he isn't going to jeopardize his job either.

Edit: the AD also could use Hubbs to their advantage. They could have floated Schiano's name more prominently than they did. They would have received the criticism and not made a formal offer. But, it appears that Currie wanted to be so secretive that he was too dumb to do it.

In their defense, I solicited their opinions and they know me. I don't think they are actively trying to ruin the kids reputation through gossip.

And even further in their defense, it's not like they knew you planned on taking their words and broadcasting it on the internet. It's one thing to offer your opinion based on personal observations of watching him play. I don't think it's right to come on here and offer the alleged opinions of his teachers.

Dobbs4Hyperbole strikes again. I have engaged him too many times and I likely will again. Maybe Dobbs4Instigating would be a better name for him.

What I find most interesting, or odd, is that people actually have a desire to even interact with him. Nothing about anything he posts makes me want to respond with anything more than a chuckle and an eye roll.

On AT's role...

Yes, he can go on the road if Pruitt wants to use him in that way as they don't have a full staff. LSU had a coach who didn't go on the road recruiting so Thomas recruited.

No one is clear on what all his role will be at Tennessee. But he will be a big part of this staff's relationships in recruiting particularly in state.
