Back to Clemson/Bama recruiting issue. We all have our view and that's great. Here is why I said what I said and believe it to be factual.
Bama has two, that's 2, players on their roster from the state of TN. So even Butch was able to hold them off. Scout teamer Riddick from Alcoa/Webb School and back-up LB McMillian from Memphis Overton are on their roster. So much for being a major recruiting force in TN. They get many of who they want from all over the country if you look at their current roster, but not so much in TN of late. Yet they will always have to focus on their in-state talent when Auburn is next door going after the same guys. So they get comparable players to TN in AL for the most part.
On the other hand, Clemson comes calling for the blue chippers and win their share recently as in Higgins and Rodgers. Guillermo from Maryville that graduated after last season was the C that started for the NC team. They now have 3 from TN with Cade possibly on the way. When you look at their roster it is strongly regional to Clemson - not all over the country like Bama. That region is our primary recruiting region when we have been good.
Maybe CJP can lock down the state and get us back in the hunt nationally. But Clemson being good hurts us worse than Bama. They are getting first pick frequently from the same region we traditionally focus on. Phil proved that consistently when he was HC with his win streak against Bama while taking some of the best recruits from the Carolinas and GA when Clemson was down. This is one of a couple reasons why I hope Bama stomps them into the dust. Another one is if Baker Mayfield and Okie beat UGA. I want CJP's guys to put a whuppin' on that azzhat.

Probably. Or it could just be that we realized nobody was gonna take him off our hands. We are hanging on to these guys in hopes that they take a job elsewhere.
For example, Thigpen is gonna work somewhere next year. Better that he takes a job on his own. Otherwise the new job is gonna pay him less than we were and we will owe the difference.
There's no market for Rock Gullickson. We are gonna have to eat that contract. Same as Kevin Beard.
