wonder what BB coach Phil would hire when Barnes retires

I expect a fantastic presser.

Sure, I don't expect him to be like Butch in the sense that he is going to talk smooth and slick and hit us with all these great selling points why he is the right guy. No, I expect it to be very similar to how Phil Fulmer handled his press conference as the AD. I expect him to tell it how it is. He is going to be real and authentic. You will know that you're getting someone who is here to get to work and give his all for Tennessee. Yes, even though he grew up as an Alabama fan, he is now the head coach for Tennessee and I truly believe and expect him to give his all for Tennessee each and every day.

Expect the word "uh" a lot.

Listening to people talk about Pruitt don't expect much from this presser in terms of being a good speaker. I don't think he is going to be great in front of the camera. I don't care but don't expect a smooth presser.

I heard a small piece of his speech when he accepted his Broyles Award a few years ago, and it was fine. He is just southern.

Oh, we can absolutely offer both of them starting spots. Cade is an NFL tackle all day long. He'd start at RT next year with Trey Smith at LT.

Lawrence is by far and away a better pure passer than anyone else we have on the roster. He'd beat out Guarantano and McBride.

Helton ran a more up-tempo spread system at UAB, correct. And I'm sure he would bring some of those elements along with him. However, he learned under Brohm at WKU and they ran a lot of pro style progressions and at USC they're almost exclusively under center/pro style. I guess the best answer is that we'll be "multiple" on offense, but it'll still be much more NFL-conducive than Butch's system.

I don't disagree that we can offer Mays a starting spot, and that Lawrence can compete for one.....but so can a ton of other P5 schools. These guys want to win, and we can't compete with other schools like UGA or Clemson at the moment. That's just the reality. These guys also have friends going to those schools.

And Lawrence just turned 18, and Guarantano and Dormady are going to be 3rd and 4th year guys in the program. Again, reality.

And lol, USC runs basically that very same offense from WKU, right now, this season. Hardly ever do they line up under center. Watch them play for two seconds before making up facts. He runs nothing close to a pro style offense, never has.

Technically never been fired and def never because if performance. His fiancé at the time made him leave FSU not Fisher. He didn't want to work under Smart when Bama D.C. Was his anyway

Not only that but I believe every move (except last year from UGA to Bama) involved making more money. He went from 500k at FSU to 850 at UGA, got a raise to 1.3 at UGA, and Saban wanted him at Bama. If that's being fired, then I would take it.

When a coach is encouraged to go a lateral job it's about the same thing.

After climbing the ladder at Bama from making $80k as player development guy to full time DB coach.....

He took at a promotion to be the FSU DC. Here's his salary.

2013 FSU $540k
2014 UGA $850k
2015 UGA $1.3m
2016 Bama $1.3m
2017 Bama $1.3m

Doesn't look like someone who was fired. You could make the case that a red flag could be that he left FSU after one year due to some issues and then was said to clash with some at UGA. He was never fired though so saying that is just wrong. The guy has been steadily rising.

Dang why did he get such a big raise after the first year at Georgia?

Jeremy Pruitt will be introduced as Tennessee’s next head football coach tonight at 6 p.m.

In the meantime, Pruitt has been busy working the phones assembling his future staff. Many names have emerged, but it’s a certainty the Colorado State’s Will Friend, Pruitt college roommate Alabama, will have a role — as the OL coach with possibly other titles.

According to sources, Tennessee running backs coach Robert Gillespie has the opportunity to stay on staff, too.

Several names have been floated out for the offensive coordinator position — perhaps Pruitt’s most important hire — with USC quarterbacks coach Tyson Helton (possibly the leading candidate) and Auburn OC Chip Lindsey two names to watch.

Defensively, UGA linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer, who was a part of Pruitt's staff with the Bulldogs, is an option for defensive coordinator. Tennessee could have company for Sherrer services though, as both Alabama and FSU are interested in possibly bringing him on staff as well. Another candidate for the DC position is FSU's Charles Kelly.

Tracy Rocker, who many believe is in line for the job, Lance Thompson (South Carolina assistant head coach, DL) and Chris Rumph (Florida DL coach) are defensive assistants who could be on Pruitt's staff, as is UAB's inside linebackers coach Brian Williams. Former Vol cornerback Terry Fair, now at CSU, is a candidate to coach Tennessee's secondary, per sources.

You can "lol" all you want but he's right. If the rest of the fanbase had the complacency of the people in the RF, Schiano would be our coach. It's easy to laugh at that portion of the fanbase with a snarky arrogance. It took an active uprising and social media to initiate that coup. VN, VQ, and other forums were crucial to that movement.

I'm not saying there aren't some delusional people in the Gruden threads. I'm just saying the ground swell created by that portion of the fanbase got important people involved --- including state lawmakers. If you don't think that's true, you're not paying attention.

How do you know about the laid back RF? I contacted my rep Sunday as soon as I heard about it and told him I would cancel my recent increase in donations if they hired that guy. Don't come in here and crap on the RF.

I will say this. An offer was in Gruden's lap to take or not to take. Obviously, he did not take it. Reason why I do not know but was about control and it was before the Schiano fiasco. Haslam was fine with Gruden as far as everyone knew but then had Mullen then Schiano. I don't think Gruden really was going to take it regardless of control but once he was out it moved quickly to that Sunday. The problem is it was NEVER a done deal and so many of those over there I think just enjoyed that thread in a weird way. We now got us a good football coach and I was not the only one over here who had issues with Schiano as well as many others over here. But even knowing what I believe to have some truth to it, those over there are on a crazy outer limits things. Some actually believe it but others are just having fun. Twitter helped bring it to light but it wasn't just the fans who stop Schiano. It was the political pressure but more so other high dollar guys with pressure.

Now, let us never bring up Gruden again and SUPPORT OUT COACH! Welcome to Rocky Top Coach Pruitt.
