Calm down. Really. I was talking to BCarter.
For once, I moved around both the FF and RF during the coaching search. A lot of us choose to stay here in our own RF bubble (myself included). It was refreshing to see how the other half perceived the search/hire.
What I described in my previous post is real. I'm not defending any "freedom fighters" (sounds a little dramatic, no?). All I'm saying is that faction of the fanbase and the power of social media drove the bus of change. Many many people were ok to complain and moan --- but sit back and let it happen.
Didn't know much about Helton really so I started reading up on him.
Here's a article from his time at WKU. Talks about his being a great motivator and working with Brohm.
WKU football coordinator Tyson Helton a master motivator
SIAP
CSU offensive coordinator Will Friend leaving for Tennessee
Will Friend supposedly already on the way.
You can "lol" all you want but he's right. If the rest of the fanbase had the complacency of the people in the RF, Schiano would be our coach. It's easy to laugh at that portion of the fanbase with a snarky arrogance. It took an active uprising and social media to initiate that coup. VN, VQ, and other forums were crucial to that movement.
I'm not saying there aren't some delusional people in the Gruden threads. I'm just saying the ground swell created by that portion of the fanbase got important people involved --- including state lawmakers. If you don't think that's true, you're not paying attention.
Is Friend a good OL coach?
Why did Rocker get fired from Ga?
