WAR per game? WAR is only accumulated in actual games played. The “per 162” is the prorated number.

I hit 10 HR in 40 games.
I hit 40 HR prorated in a “per 162”.

I’m not a huge Andruw Jones fan.
I’m not a Braves fan.

Andruw Jones in his prime is widely considered the greatest defensive CF in baseball history.

No one ever played shallower, and still got to the balls he did. Balls that Edmonds would lay out for and make spectacular catches on… Jones would just glide underneath.

Dale Murphy & Don Mattingly suffered the same fate - injuries.

Great players, with great peaks. Didn’t have the sustained success required to accumulate the traditional top line stats.

That said, I hope there’s a place someday for both of them. They were both amazing ballplayers.

A: He’s probably the greatest of all time.

A: He’s possibly the greatest of all time.

We have no way of estimating what Mickey could have been, we have no baseline - he was busted from the get go.

But we can make reasonable extrapolations for Gehrig & Williams. I’ve got them as 2 of the top 3 or 4 all time.

What if Roberto Clemente hadn’t died in a plane crash? For his time in the MLB, give me Clemente in RF if The Babe is your DH.

I thought for certain Mendoza was going down around the 5 when he got hit and did a 180. I'm gonna believe he was able to do that soley due to the S&C coaches.

I've also convinced myself that Owings is so good that we're gonna see extraordinary changes in all our players, 😂. Would be nuts if he somehow got Mac to pack on 25lbs of muscle in 8 months. Is that even possible without steroids? What would be a reasonable expectation for gains in 8mos on someone Mac's size?
