Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Rocky Goode was a good friend of mine and I never remember him calling a UT game. He seemed to call GA almost every week….we gave him a hard time about that :D!
Yep. I can't remember if he was on WNML 99.1 or one of the local VOL Talk TV shows and someone asked him about officiating UT games. He said he couldn't because he had went to UT and the SEC didn't allow former alumni to call their schools games. That always stayed in my mind.

I was saying this leading up to UGA week and got a lot of pushback because of where their recruiting classes have ranked. They still have good talent but they don't have the depth they once did and Kirby Smart has admitted this earlier this season. That Bama/UGA disappointed me. Bama usually wins at home so I wasn't at all surprised by the result, but it looked almost like they won by default. It didn't capture me like Bama/UGA matchups of old. IDK might be a me issue.

Europe won 1 single match outright the entire day. USA deserved to lose considering the hole they put themselves in, but they put up a valiant effort today to make Europe extremely nervous to even be able to retain the cup. Still think the rule with Hovland is trash. Sure didn’t seem like he was struggling giving high 5s and hugging people.

On another note, Morikawa’s putting was atrocious all week. Not really sure why Keegan picked him. He should have picked himself or someone else, because CM wasn’t it all week.

If you want some good laughs….just go to the UGA forum. Here is an example!!!!
Was saying something about this earlier. What is the logic here that Kirby would have a plethora of booster money that he just decides not to spend to make his team better? They didn't pay Beck this year and they were able to go out and get some offensive skill talent in the portal but that's because skill players are a lot cheaper than paying a top-flight QB in the portal/NIL age. Beck seems to be doing well. Georgia should have lost to us. I think most people in the country realize that.

Agree with everything you said. I will also add though that the Europeans have actually only earned 14 points. They have a 1/2 point from a withdrawal. 14 points retains the cup, but it would be a tie.

Of course Arkansas fires their coach right before coming to Knoxville. Lovely. We get a rejuvenated Razorback team off the bye…
That's not the bad part. Bobby P will have them ready to run through a wall for him. He's a good coach who just got caught up chasin' tail. He's come full circle at Arkansas

Every single Mississippi State player stood and watched after the fumble. Atleast try to chase somebody down, especially the o-line that just got abused on that play. Nobody was catching Josephs, but atleast act like you are trying.
Josephs was carrying the ball like a loaf of bread. I've seen crazier things happen with fumbles on plays like that when there is good pursuit.

They arent the same. They are good, but not as good as they used to be. Thats b/c of nil. Uga doesnt outbid for prospects and the transfer portal has leveled out the talent across the country. They have the same issues other teams have

You're right but it's also reordering things at the top of the conference and I think the impacts are yet to be realized. Teams that win in recruiting AND in the portal (losing few they want to keep and winning on incoming prospects) are going to do better long-term than some of these teams who just seem to win on recruiting day when on Saturdays, their ex-players are making big time plays for good teams that aren't them. There's still no good measure of that because there are coaches at good teams bringing in 3 star transfers who end up being studs. What was Lane's Division II QB ranked?
