I would ask for good referees every game if you can find themEarlier this week Basilio shared info about SEC scheduling. The league office tries to grant one special request for each school regarding their schedules. UGA and Alabama both requested a bye week before their game. Tennessee requested that the Florida game occur late in the season.
I wonder what we’ll request for next year.
Agreed. AP voters are clueless and it needs to change.A lot of it just has to do with preseason rankings, which messes up the rankings for the first few weeks. And then sometimes they overreact to one game (fsu getting all the way to 7) Tennessee is definitely better than 15 but it’s hard to move them up after a loss. But we shouldn’t have been ranked 23 to start the season
I think I saw it in this thread like it got merged@Freak, I made a bye week thread this morning and it disappeared shortly afterwards. Do you know what happened to it?
Id personally would rather see boo start at nickel and mcmurray take redmond’s spot until mccoy comes backI hope after the bye week we finally unleash Boo and stop with the punishment. We need him full time at punt returner and starting at star. That hit he laid in the second quarter was a monster. If you really want McMurray on the field, then move boo to safety. But he is one of your best DBs and needs to be on the field.
I hear this parroted a decent amount. Obviously the goal is for the more athletic players to grasp the mental aspects and not have bursts in alignment and run fits. But if the option is one or the other; more athletic with busts is not necessarily the best option. Giving up 5 yards multiple times means more plays being run. That means more opportunities for negative yardage plays, offensive penalties, strip sacks, etc. Busts that give up 50 yard plays is unrecoverable.Coaches have to be willing to play them and live with some busts but better athleticism and more plays.
Nah, every damn player earns their snaps. You are assuming Boo is doing everything like everyone else and it's a vacuum where he's getting petty punishment. It's not. Boo's participation has actually decreased which tells me he's still not doing things right outside of gametime. He doesn't deserve special treatment. If he's showing up late, walking through drills, not paying attention in the film room, not showing up to class, etc then he doesn't get preferred snaps. This is not a staff that has ever wavered on holding everyone accountable and to the same standard.
@you will have to figure that out on his own. . .
Teams with good culture do not have coaches with "favorites" unless by favorites you mean the players that consistently give the team the best chance to win. In that case, yes coaches do in fact have favorites. A team where players that do not earn it still see lots of playing time is a team that has a cap on its ceiling. You can beat teams that are not good. But you don't win the games that bring you championships. As someone who played in college, I disagree that all snaps are earned. Coaches have favorites. Coaches do lean more toward older players many times even when others are better or more talented. Happens all the time. I do agree that it may be his own fault and not doing what he should. And that could be the case.
David Smith won't be able to ref that game because he is a Gump alumni, former team captain, and the Sun Bowl MVP. It'll probably be the supervisor for Alabama Power, Steve Marlowe. He's from Birmingham and hates the VOLS too.And we all know their former QB will be calling our game in Tuscaloosa.
