Nope. No way we move up. Guarantee FSU stays in front of us to prop up Bama’s loss. We will stay same or maybe even drop a spot or 2. Vandy will probably jump us too. Winning on road in SEC in OT against a 4-0 team deserves to be penalized.

We all know we will have to beat Bama and the refs to win that game. Only chance we have for that game to be called even remotely fair is for them to lose both games against Mizzou and Vandy. We know that’s not happening. Just not sure what gives us the best chance for it to be called maybe 70:30…them having one loss or 2. Probably having only 1 loss.

He played well in a very tough spot to come out for his first college snaps (minus false start which I was worried would happen). We need to get our original starting 5 on the field now and see if we can cook even more. MSU was getting a lot of penetration against us yesterday, and we struggled running the ball like we usually are able to do.

I think Bama will end Mizzou and Vandy (Before we play them in a crazy atmosphere at their house)

I think Texas AM is a contender and looked very good. Don't know how Oklahoma will do without their Heisman quarterback (wasn't there a thumb problem?) Ole Miss has to play Georgia and Oklahoma.. We'll see.

Wow, did we need this week to get here desperately! 4-1 entering the bye is probably where we all thought we would be before the season started. What we didn’t expect is for the defense to be struggling so much, for Joey Aguilar to be so so good, for the injuries to be devastating so early in the season, and for our record to be where it is because we dropped a game to Georgia in OT that we should have won and won a game in OT at MSU that we might should have lost. So, the net is we are still 4-1, and have a lot to look forward to if we can get healthy and correct our mistakes.

Keys to win the bye week:

1. GET HEALTHY ON DEFENSE! This is the most important key these next 2 weeks. We have weathered a lot of adversity the first 5 weeks. Now, we need everyone back healthy and to hope McCoy is ready to be back close to what he was pre-injury.

2. Can we please practice fundamental tackling and taking better angles in the off week? Both have been atrocious for our defense.

3. Get every single offensive skill position player on the JUGS machine every day all day (except Brazzell), and especially Kitselman, Staley, and all the RBs!

4. Coaches, you have some things to evaluate schematically (defense) and with in-game decisions we are making, as well as clock management mistakes (Heup). These things need corrected just as much as the things above.

Do these things, hone in on fundamental
Football, and we win the bye week and should be prepared for the next 4 game gauntlet before our next bye. LETTUCE GO!

ONE TEAM, ONE HEARTBEAT!

Dude made some seriously hard catches this game. Especially that one where he was literally falling down and just so happened to turn around while doing so and STILL catching the ball. In-freaking-believable catch. Sportscenter Top 10 catch.

This feels like a team that will get better and better as the season unfolds. I think the players coming back from injury will be a huge boost. And 1st year starters like Matthews, Staley, Redmond, etc. will learn and grow. If the team takes this bye week seriously and gets to work, the rest of the schedule sets up very nicely. We absolutely have a good chance to make the playoffs. Go Vols!

Earlier this week Basilio shared info about SEC scheduling. The league office tries to grant one special request for each school regarding their schedules. UGA and Alabama both requested a bye week before their game. Tennessee requested that the Florida game occur late in the season.

I wonder what we’ll request for next year.

At this point, I’m ok with it and it seems Huepel is too. He’s a baller and we have to take some of the bad with majority good. He may be the least physically gifted qb of Huepels since he got here but he processes and plays better than all of them. And hooker was great in this system. I do not mean this as a slight on Joey, we’ve just had very talented QBs physically. Joeys edge is mental and when the lights go on he is processing this offense fast. I love it.
