Not only was that AWFUL, but so was the forward progress in H1. Also likely cost us a TD. Total and utter (udder?) BS. Once you get thrown back and are FREE to run, but then you get hit again and tackled 8 yards backwards...that's on the ballcarrier. No prior whistle. So, had he ran forward for a TD, they would have given it to him. Therefore, you have to accept backward movement as the counterbalancing risk.
Awful zebra job today

That’s why you mute the TV and put on Mike Keith. I’ve done that for all 5 games so far and it’s made Saturdays more enjoyable.

LB has been a head scratcher for me for a while but I think I realized something.

Modern offenses are a nightmare for the linebacker position these days. Every RB, WR, and TE is a mismatch for 90% of linebackers in coverage. Especially when the pffense is spread out. That's why you have guys like Carter and Telander getting burned or a step late yet they still say we have one of the best LB tandems in the league and Carter is a high draft pick.

I mean even on a run play in a spread system if the HB or a pulling OL gets the Mike the Will has no chance if the RB gets to the second level. Too much ground to cover because the field is stretched. Then its RB vs S, and we see that outcome ALL the time in our offense.

Far less spread in the NFL so I think scouts overlook some of those bad plays and focus on seeing the guy making the right reads and having the intangibles.

50/50 responsibility imo.

But yeah JA needs to get em down. This has been consistent. Seems like his 1 weakness, which you will live with given all the positives, but coach will push you to pursue nothing less than perfection and I hope he reaches damn near as he can.

I’m curious to see if this might be a year where the defense gets better as we move forward

We are playing tons of young players, and key guys are coming back from injury

They also show flashes of brilliance, including in today’s game

We are going to need them if we want to make a playoff run
