I just got back to the tailgate tent in the Junction by Davis Wade Stadium and I’ll give a brief take on the game. I have no idea what was happening in the game threads but I’m sure it included multiple meltdowns.
This is a good team. BUT with that said, we have to do a better job of taking care of the football and eliminating costly mistakes. Miss St had a short field inside UT’s 25 yard line three times. Twice on tipped INTs to Kitzelman and once on the muffed punt by Staley.
This game should have been won by two possessions. It should not have had to come down to OT. This is a much improved Miss St team and they will have a winning season.
The atmosphere was raucous. Attending these road games really makes you appreciate how hard it is to win on the road in this conference. Davis Wade wouldn’t make the top half for most pundits, but that crowd was every bit as raucous as any crowd I’ve experienced. They were loud without cowbells.
Let’s focus on getting healthy on this bye week. We’re 4-1 and have a downed Arkansas game coming in two weeks. We survived our road game that we have lost the past several years but found a way to win this time.
Good teams find ways to win on their worst days on the road in this conference. Ask Georgia two weeks ago.
Also. OUTSTANDING job by Big Orange nation showing out. No team travels like Tennessee. The visiting sideline legit looked like the Vandy visiting sideline, and I had a great view from the home sideline.
