But even at that point, get a Medicare advantage policy and your medical expenses should be much less. My dad retired last year, I got him on a MA policy and it’s helped him greatly. He does work 2 days a week at his old job training his replacement. So he lives off that since everything else is paid for and so he doesn’t touch his 401k except for the required money he has to pull out. He’s had some issues the past year since he got the MA and it’s helped out greatly over what Medicare itself would have paid and his patient liability would be. I wished I had gotten him on a HSA many years ago.Even if you couldn’t use HSA for anything after 65 (you can), it’s silly to complain that you can “only” use it for medical.
Medical is a HUGE expense.
If I told you I was giving you $200k but you could “only” use it for groceries, would you gripe about that?
No! You would simply use the money you already had allocated for groceries on something else you wanted….
@lawgator1 still posts (mostly in the politics forum).Saw someone earlier mention Lawgator which reminds me of all those gators that use to live on this site.
Can’t remember all their names now but there were several who frequented here. Hmm wonder what happened to them?
As I recall Lawgator was the best of those who posted here..
I guess it depends on how you define “true” wealth. There’s plenty of 401k millionaires. Millionaires next door who didn’t own businesses. I personally don’t think you need 10s of millions to feel wealthy, at least not today currently. How? Most millionaires in this country have or do own a business. And the number is even more substantial for multi millionaires and billionaires. If you want the easiest return and quickest path to making money, buy or build businesses to sell. I had a client sell his company after ten years for over 30 million and he built it from nothing. Where can you get that return from maxing a 401k?
Institutional means the school is controlling it, not the fans. There's no rule about when fans can do it. Actually they aren't allowed noisemakers at all, except there, so there's no reason for a rule.I hope DW is working the SEC office about strict enforcement on MSU’s special exemption from the artificial noisemakers rule. Even with their special privilege, they are not allowed to ring cowbells when we are over the ball.
I heard something someone said earlier today I liked a lot. He said that wealth can only earn you comfort. True joy is found within and it's free!Well if you want to get reallllllly philosophical I’m right there with you. All I need is my family and close friends happy and healthy, good music, and a Vols football natty.
Prayers for Peace for you, Strength and Comfort for your wife, and Wisdom for the Medical StaffIf you guys could please say a prayer for me and my wife, she’s been in early labour now for 4 days and it’s not exactly progressing well. Would truly appreciate some prayers, good vibes or anything else you guys are willing to send our way. This whole process has just been exhausting![]()
