What's hilarious is that it's not very likely at all Oklahoma State hires a better coach than Gundy. Gundy won prior to the NIL/portal era. NIL is going to continue to be a struggle for them. T Boone Pickens isn't around anymore and I don't think his estate is supporting NIL.

I think there's going to be some catch up after a slow carousel last year and the year before. It's cyclical; the slow year in 23/24 followed up a 21/22 carousel where the USC, OU, UF, LSU, Miami, ND, Washington, Oregon, and VT jobs all came open. That was wild.

We had the #2 rated QB a few years back and he’s a below average QB at UCLA now,
So counting your chickens before the eggs hatch has been proven to be a bad plan.

Merk isn’t better than GMac is what we believe, but I’ve not been convinced CJH has come to that conclusion yet,

But to answer your question, putting the QB you know won’t be here next year above the best interest of your team is not a smart move.

Also playing Merk with a bunch of 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers isn’t putting anything on film that’s going to help him out.

You’re telling Merk a qb who couldn’t beat out Nico with his sufferings. Who if the coaches trusted, wouldn’t have gone and got another qb in portal. To compete with gmac and the number 1 qb in the coming up cycle. You watch Merk, do you think he’s good? Regardless you’re paying Brandon and g mac big money to be the guy.

We don’t know his thoughts but we see in games who is more comfortable and has better reading of defense.

That’s not true. Merk gave you his commitment from high school. You are committed to him as well. Heup is a stand up guy and will absolutely help Merk get good tape knowing he won’t be here. Our 2’s and 3’s are better than the 1’s where he will wind up.

Edit: but honestly who knows. But to laugh it off is kind of hilarious in its own right.
