Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

What are the worst takes about Vol football you saw coming into the season? The ones I saw here:

- Aguilar won’t be good + Merk will win the job
- P Lew is RB1
- WR room will suck overall
- Brazzell is a portal bust
- Pope is a bad WR coach & recruiter

- Lance Heard sucks and is a portal bust

Yeah these are the ones I recall us having to hear about every day...

Also I think Peyton has all the potential...he kind of reminds me of where Dylan was in year 2. Wright/Small established and ahead of him (Star/Bishop)...but as the year played out and injuries hit Dylan took over for Small as RB2 and then the next year he was a stud.

But I'll say it again if you're a RB that wants to make it to the NFL how are you not dying to come here? Most NFL teams don't want to draft a bell cow with all kinds of tread on the tires. You can come put up video game numbers, have great tape and also keep carries low. Only reason Sampson didn't go higher than the 4th round (imo) was he got no love in the Heisman race absolute media screw job he wasn't top 10.

To see that the top 10 only had 2 RBs Jeanty & Skattebo when you had such good performances that season. Omarion Hampton, Dylan Sampson, & Kaleb Johnson...just shows how much those Heisman voters look at team and record.

I doubt it...you never know when one of these guys is the one that can learn how to use all that physical talent.
I mean, maybe when recruiting someone he may recognize Nico/Joe traits that he otherwise wouldn't and adjust accordingly.

He at least wouldn't pull the trigger on a guy like that in the portal again I think. Still will with high school players. I think when Heup watched Aguilars tape he was like "oh s**t I can work with this." That's why he said "The Aguilar situation" He could see that Joey could run this Thang.

They have definitely polished him up too. Someone in Aguilar's camp said "He's never had coaching this this before and they're bringing the best out of him" or something like that, in the preseason.

Can't wait to watch him eviscerate the cowbells!

Hopefully they rank Ms St so we can get a ranked road win.

Feels like they have to at this point, right?

9th ranked Illinois got beat by 53...they're gonna take a big fall
22 Auburn lost at OU
16 Utah got handled by 24 at home to Texas Tech

I could legit see all 3 of those teams falling out of the Top 25...of course Notre Dame at 1-2 is still gonna stay in there (eye roll)

Mr Brazzell is on pace to score 24 TDs this season 👀. . .

We have 3 WRs in the SEC top15 👀👀

We have 2 rbs in the SEC top11 👀👀👀

Aguilar is #3 passing yds in the SEC with 25 less passing attempts than #1 (Jake Merklinger is in the top20)👀👀👀👀

We have 3 players in the SEC top10 in scoring (Gilbert, Star, Brazzell) 👀👀👀👀👀

You're forgetting Florida, Clemson, and SC. They'll be ahead of us.

cheap shot or a crime or both

On Thursday, September 19, 2025, a 15-year-old Lakeshore High School JV football player suffered two spine fractures during a game against Kalamazoo Central High School in Michigan.

I read in one of the articles on the Internet that the schools will be dealing with this internally. That punk should be charged for assault and battery at a minimum, if not attempted murder. And he should be civilly sued for all medical bills and pain and suffering.

September 21, 2025: For those who have endured heart-wrenching losses, know that you can find solace in God's presence. Seek the Lord with your whole heart, and you will find Him. He will make a way forward and bring healing to your soul. The Lord is your very present help in troubled times. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble

Probably not a day goes by that Dan Mullen doesn't laugh at the morons at UF.

SOBs getting what they deserve for their unwarranted level of hubris. Urban and Spurrier were generational and they should have known that by successes at South Carolina, Utah, OSU.

4-0 right now at UNLV too...You know his wife LOVES being in Vegas ;)

I will say, it's very obvious Boo wasn't taking the off-season serious for whatever reason. That's been a bit of a disappointment.

To have all this spring drama and then he essentially doesn't hold up his end and now looks like he's still playing himself back into shape kinda frustrating. He's not a bust or anything, but just seeing what he has done so far you know a full summer with better effort in workouts and such he'd likely have even more numbers right now.

He reminds me of Boobie Miles. . .
