Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

It's crazy how much talent this Miami d has.

I thought our D would be talented. All we heard about was how good they were, how recruiting got better. Sigh. We will have to make some big steps
Dude...go take a zanex...we have had four future NFL players at critical positions sitting on the bench all season...you're a nerve wrackin sonuvabeech sometimes.

I still think he just got unlucky. Milton’s arm strength makes every coach think “if I can fix him...” And Nico looked elite as a high schooler.

If Faizon busts we might have a problem. I think running his offense actually requires a very specific skillet that isn’t necessarily 1:1 with traditional QB evaluations. And it’s perhaps difficult to determine if a high school or transfer QB can run it effectively before they get to campus.
If you're landing 5 star, to ten national qbs and they bust, that means everyone that wanted the kid, rated him or otherwise evaluated him.. Missed.

99% of them still require development and sometimes you don't know.... Till you know.

I can’t see us spending asinine money like that again on a QB. Certainly not a HS QB.

I just wonder why he didn’t recruit a veteran after last year. Surely to goodness Heupel behind the scenes was like: “Dam, this kid sucks”

Which is why I think he’s lucky he left to where he did. No one here had even heard of Joey Aguilar 7 months ago.
Heupel obviously felt Nico could be "fixed". If not, he would have ditched him after the season and went after a portal QB sooner. When Nico left, none of the QBs we reached out to wanted to enter the portal. So our choices were Aguilar or Angeli, who of course went to Syracuse.

Talked about this with McGill not too long ago. Heupel sees physical talent and believes in himself to mold it. That's why Milton and Nico were the guys he picked. Both are tremendously gifted physically. But the key to a successful Heupel QB is between the ears. Hooker knew how to process the field, read the defense, and check down. Aguilar seems similar. Hopefully Brandon has it between the ears, too.

The defense is young, especially the third level. The fact we are playing at many young players will pay off big in a year or two. Those young players have all the traits, they lack time in a strength and conditioning program and experience. They're getting experience now, the fact they are aggressive is what we want. When it an comes together....... Watch out

We landed George and Brandon back-to-back years. You increase your chances of having a hit when you're able to pull that off. Most teams in the country would LOVE to have that sort of situation at QB.

Mich St is going to have to pass more on 1st&2nd down if they want to win this game. Too predictable.

A statement like this normally draws your ire as it can be seen as questioning Heupel. This is where we would get the 🐂💩 emojis and hear about the idiot margin....

So I give you this instead...

🦬💩...did you even read what I said? I said picking QBs is ridiculously hard...that was on no way a dig at Heupel.

I know I'm not expecting Faizon to be awesome though...he absolutely has the physical talent to be awesome, to be transcendent even, but can he do what most of these guys can't...see the field and make his progressions? That is what makes our offense really go.
