Bill Meyer Stadium ! Living within 3 miles of the K-Jays park, I went to probably close to 50 games , beginning with KnoxSox games in the 70's until the Carlos Delgado and Alex Fernandez Smokies days in the 90's.
I saw many a game in the old Bill Meyer Stadium with the Knoxville Sox and the K-Jays.
I guess the player who stands out most in my memory would be Cecil Fielder. Mercy that dude could crank a baseball.

So irritated when they moved Smokies back to Knoxville. I live in Kodak I went to many games every year. I watched Kris Bryant in his short time in Double A ball.
At the Southern League all-star break, Bryant led the SL in 7 out of 10 hitting categories, then he got called up, then, eventually a MVP and the Curse was lifted with a NL Pennant, followed by the World Series win over the Indians. Then Kris slowly became a shell of himself. Schwarber became the biggest star of that team and he was hurt for a lot of that playoffs. Probably saw him, also, didn't you ? Baez, Bryant, Happ and Schwarber was quite a run for the Smokies

Yes, sir, I saw Big Cecil, too. But, I thought Jessie Barfield was going to be "The Man" as a 10/11 year old. Jesse had a nice career, but not like Cecil. "The Crime Dog", Fred McGriff jacked plenty of HRa for the K-Jays, a few years later, too.

Ah, yes.
Barfield and McGriff.
Practically criminal of me not to bring them up, too.

Did anyone notice that we scored, went on a 5 min commercial break, came back for the xp or kickoff, then went straight back to a 5 min commercial break last week?
Yes, because UGA started the second half with a 7+ minute drive. Not sure that I’ve ever really noticed it, but those breaks seem to be based on how long the game has been showing. I’m sure a producer has the call on that. Ridiculous. So much for shortening the games.
