Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Why does it take elite prospects 15-20 visits to UT, to commit? Kesean Bowman is set for another visit. LOL, dude has been here 10 times. It's like the burden is on us at the local school to prove we're cool.

Great job by the staff btw.

Some good video to look at after the UGA turnover and how the UGA D-line made plays against the UT O-line at a critical time in the game.

I want to see the penalty on 1st down, right after the fumble recovery. This video alreay has the penalty enforced. They said Sam moved the football and that's what the LB judge through the flag on. I've watched the game twice and didn't see it. 🤔

I find myself agreeing with most everything you say. It is the system. I think the proof is in the lack of NFL success of Heupel QBs and it's not about them not getting developed! Their lack of talent gets exposed in an NFL system. Heupel's system makes average QBs look like a million bucks, but Heupel is starting to get his hands on some top-flight QB talent. So it will be intriguing to see if he can do better with better talent.
So is the reason Heupel’s QBs don’t have success in NFL from Tennessee because he hasn’t had great talent or his system? Didn’t you just admit he is finally getting better talent and hasn’t he coached up talent to NFL levels before using his system?

Didn't they announce already which games were Checker, Dark Mode, & Smokey Gray?

Thought it was mentioned sometime in the summer?
Or was it just guesses after they announced the UGA for checker?

The record thus far is mixed. No doubt Heupel knows how to coach a QB. But, he also chose Milton over Hooker and that only changed because of injury? We also saw frustratingly bad performances by Milton and Nico. No QB available that he saw as having better potential? I'm encouraged by the talent we have now and talent coming to our team. Future is so bright...yada yada....

Well, I'm second-guessing my argument now because what NFL guys have said about the system from a QB standpoint is that guys don't learn how to read an entire field and that they don't learn how to throw with anticipation and I don't know enough to know if those are things you can develop at the NFL level if a guy hasn't learned them in college. To be honest I was thinking more specifically in terms of how the WR position seems to be that way. You see guys like Tillman having early success and he's got all the measurables the NFL looks for and then a guy like Hyatt who never really did and succeeded in Heupel's system can't see the field. And then Donte Thornton having early success. So I don't think it's at all prohibitive to those guys. I guess I just don't know enough about what the NFL looks for to offer any kind of informed opinion.

You're not wrong but he did get more out of those guys than you would expect given what they did at other stops. George looks promising and Brandon right after.

It should be very obvious that the offense has grown to be more complex/ similar to NFL offenses this season. I don't understand why you guys think Heupel is "stuck in his ways". He adjusts his scheme to his teams strengths and personnel literally every year. Also, it's just very obvious that the receivers have a better route tree this season. I mean, just watch Brazzell's catches and tell me there's not an obvious difference. Oh and btw, Cedric Tillman already has 2 TD catches in 2 games.

Who is this "you guys"? You clearly don't know what I think. I've never said Heupel was stuck in his ways. His offense evolves every year quite deliberately.
