Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I have a nephew on his team. The thought has been he is better than his brother.

He has offers from Ala... Ole Miss... NC... UCLA and others... but not Tennessee to my knowledge.

My guess is we won’t offer either. Apparently there is some serious bad blood between Heupel and the family. No idea what it is, but it’s there.

iirc, Pruitt was going to hire his dad to Vols staff. When Heupel was hired his dad made comments about the hiring along the lines of it being a mistake and for a while wouldn't let Ty talk to him.

But thats all fuzzy in my brain so don't quote me

Why it's so perplexing to me is his mechanics are so awful. You have 3 high-level QBs in your family and your mechanics are that bad? Is Sark coaching him to ignore his uncles? I'm jesting but wow. His accuracy is GOING to be bad with those mechanics. His footwork is awful. 3rd year in the program and that's what you trot out there Steve Sarkisian? It always puzzled me he chose Texas. I've never been impressed with Sark as a coach.
Coach cut is there

Happy Thursday

September 18, 2025: You have no recourse but to take life as it comes. God is with you to help you through difficult times, and He will not forsake you. The Lord will give you directions and show you the way to the next phase of your existence. Do not be afraid or dismayed. Quiet your soul, and seek Jesus for guidance. Isaiah 25:4 For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

I'm right along with you, I trust Heupel completely...he's done everything and more to deserve it. That's why, although I totally disagree with some of the moves he made Saturday, and feel like those moves cost us, I still fully supported them, right or wrong, because I support him. I ride or die with the man. I've said on many occasions, he has more knowledge about football in a fingernail, than I do in my entire body...and, that goes for everyone else around here, too; not just about offense, but every aspect of the game.

Still, I do question why he played for a FG after the strip-sack. I question why we didnt go for the end zone at the end, instead of playing for another FG (2 minutes left, 3 timeouts, and still had a ton of momentum on the offensive side of the ball...UGA still hasn't stopped us whenever we went aggressive downfield, they had no answer for it). I also question why he continued going with DeSean Bishop over Star Thomas. However, although I have these questions, I still support JH and the decisions he made. As I said, he's earned it, and knows better than I. I truly believe he's the best HC the Vols have had since Robert Neyland, and I have said as much on many occasions.
Nicely said. Not sure why so many want to attack posters when everyone loves Heupel but you can still question some decisions.

Thinking ahead to the portal after the season, do we roll with who we have, or do we go get a QB. How much offense do we really pursue in the portal? Biggest needs will probably be on defense. Definitely need some experienced DL guys for our rotation, IMO.
Probably going to need a runningback and then I would be shocked if we did not go after DT and secondary players.

Pretty much when heup was hired Jason Simpson said his offense wouldn’t translate to the sec and wouldn’t let ty even consider us after that
I hope it’s so bad that we take it out on him and Bama in Tuscaloosa, and beat them by about 30 points or more! I hope Heupel tells Banks he had better blitz Ty all game. Then, I hope Josh finds Ty and asks him how that offense looks that his dad said would never translate to the SEC.

I know plenty of people who played on that field and didn’t agree. They couldn’t stop Brazzel. Try one to the corner and game over. But they also understood going up eight.
I still contend that we did everything right. We played it right. Just kick a damn field goal. And I appreciate that the kid manned up and said he didn't do his job. We gonna be aight.

They needed a hurry up, power or bunch package. Use those TE's. Or run up and let QB sneak it. You dont go to locker room with three TO's, and :07. I get it, i'm not faulting Huep. Georgia has been there and it shows.

That's why they won that game. Not because of anything else.

Willy doesn't realize how coming from a well off family gives you 75% multiplication factor. On a 10 scale here's how it works:
3 x 1.75 =5.25
4 x 1.75 = 7.00
5 x 1.75 = 8.75
6 and above are automatic 10's

I know this because at my school a kid's family won the lottery and he instantly became "so Hot".

We also had a football player that drove a Corvette in HS, dumbest person I have ever met. He could barely read but his family had money, so the ladies loved him. He cheated on a test and made a 5/100.

That 3rd down run was one missed block away from being a td anyway. It wasn’t a bad call for the look they had.

I think it’s Boo. Threatening to leave to get his NIL jacked up and demanding offensive snaps. Hasn’t provided much outside of punt returns against ETSU.
He's had his share of miscues as well. Great physical tools, but I'm not sure he has the mental/emotional maturity to take full advantage.

It's the way you do it. It's one thing to say "not sure I understand why..." and another to say or suggest that you or your football playing buddies know better. You don't. Until and unless you've coached at his level with his level of success it's all uninformed speculation.
