Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

That dude ran for 92 vs Ohio state. I think he can be a dang good back if you give him the carries. I thought he ran better than Bishop Saturday

10 for 77 vs OSU.

I wasn’t basing as much off my own opinion but the apparent pecking order as carries given by the staff. And I haven’t done a re-watch of our games to see how he’s doing in pass pro.

But with a 3-headed monster at RB there’s gonna be games where someone doesn’t get to eat.

I also think people should also remember that 2023 Secondary overhaul….

We have a lot of new faces & as they play more and more together they will get better. Obviously gotta stay healthy & get guys back.

But Spillman, Redmond, Farooq…them dudes haven’t played 6 full games yet. Tell me you don’t see the potential.

Yeah depth was/is the biggest issue. Already reared its ugly head.

And if we get bit by key injuries... It is what it is.

But I just don't worry about the program any more. We're so much better off. Maybe better off than we ever have been.

Just need to break thru that glass celling and get to ATL or make a playoff run. Everything else is there. Recruiting is great. Roster had as much quality across it as it's had in years.

And this year, a transition year, still has a chance to be special.

Things could be, and have been, sooo much worse. GBO🍊
It does feel like the program is "fixed" for the most part. Doesn't mean a national championship is imminent but I think the bottom falling out like it did for Butch or Proot (Dooley was always in the dumps so there wasn't much to fall) is unlikely and that we should generally expect to be a competitive, playoff-caliber team.

No hard-on for the douchecanoe, but he's very good at doing more with less, similar to Hype. If he ever went to a program with more ability to attract talent, he'd be pretty dangerous.

Sidenote, but the "never" folks said the same about Harbaugh, Day, hell...some quickly forget about this but that was a huge tag on Kirby by a lot of morans for a long time, and now they're coming for Hype. Some folks are just too impatient to see an arc through. Still obsessed with "iF YoU dOnT wIN iT alL By Y2 YoU nEvEr WiLL!!" despite the above, Dabo, Coach O spitting in the face of the entire concept.
He.... has coached at big time programs. Tennessee and USC. and USC gave him everything he could ever need. He calls good plays but his teams play uninspired all the time.

My opinion of Heup’s offense has somewhat eroded over the past 2 seasons. Last night really calmed my apprehensions. I don’t know if the team is good enough to return to the playoffs, but it looks like it’s going to be a fun year to watch.
Heup has had guys running free every game every season. At some point, it’s on the qb to hit the throw and the receiver to catch it.

What is really going on with David Sanders?
We will know in a few weeks. If he hasn’t played, I would imagine more is going on and smoke will come out. If he plays, then it really was just an injury. You will never get anything from Heupel. I don’t even know why they interview him. He basically says nothing lol

Why is Pry a legend in Blacksburg?
So I misremembered his time at VT he was not a legend but highly respected. He was a grad assistant under Bud Foster on defense and was there for 3 straight bowl seasons. VT fans were super excited to bring him back to Blacksburg after his career trajectory and how much he's respected as a defensive mind.

If banks gets a head coaching job, I would gladly take Pry. He is a great DC
