Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I hope Aguilar (and the entire offense’s) performance last night sways McCoy and others on defense to try their best to get healthy and help this team.

Hopefully they see something special and want to be part of another potential playoff run and not “rest their bodies.”

It’s there if we can get healthy on defense. We could be really good.

Surprisingly not that sad. Upset we lost but just roves we can literally beat anyone. Stack more wins and recruits and we will eventually bring home the title.
Pretty much how I felt all night. Came away far more optimistic. It's about the season, not a single game. If you had told me we lost, I easily would've guessed a little to a lot like it has been since 2017.

Huge step forward and especially for Hype. No more mystique for Kirby having him figured out. Hell, if we ever had even 80% of the raw talent, it wouldn't be close.

Competitors play. I get being cautious for your future, but he’s talented enough to get drafted anyway. The NIL money also compensates you now. I just don’t understand the mindset of totally sitting out.

I'm gonna try to talk to someone tomorrow to find out if the McCoy stuff is true or if the people spreading these rumors are fos.

I’m a little surprised at the negative takes. It hurts bad for sure. But can the doubters not see what’s building? We’ll probably lose a couple more games this year. But we might still make the playoffs, and the future looks really bright. I could see a national championship within 5 years.

We look so much better offensively than last year, and that reaffirms my faith in Heupel. A few correct calls or a kick go our way, and we’re celebrating right now.
Starting out most said making the playoffs every 3 years would be reasonable. You're only going to get 3 SEC teams/yr. 4 at most with things falling the right way. UGA...Bama...TEX eat up a lot of those off the bat. The rest...us, LSU, UF, OU, Ole Miss, TAMU, Auburn fight for the scraps right now. That's a lot of talented teams.

Yet...if we only go 50/50 starting out, same folks will lose their minds 😅 And it feels we still have a decent chance to start B2B playoffs.

Ugh, living here in GA, and now I gotta go into work tomorrow
I hear ya! Already faced my church friends and had it rubbed in. Now will have to have round 2 tomorrow. Can’t stand the lack of humility with them. They will get humbled soon and I hope it’s by us either in SECC game or playoffs!

I used to try to address these types of ignorant posts. It's a waste of time. Fans don't understand enough of the circumstances that go into decision-making. Every fan that is mad that we " got conservative" on those calls have no idea what defensive alignment they were in....I guarantee you that. UGA knew that was a situation where the offense wants to take a shot. They were not going to allow a shot play. The offenses BEST OPPORTUNITY to move the ball based on their defense was not an aggressive down the field pass play. We didn't execute/got beat in some 1v1. But we look cooler if we go Leroy Jenkins and attack into the strength of the defense?
I believe there are other options than running it up the center’s ass or throwing a deep ball.

I do have to say, I am really proud of our teams resolve overall. When we allowed the 14 play, 7:30 minute td drive for uga to take the 24-21 lead and 3 plays later threw the int, most teams would’ve quit. But we didn’t, we came together and forced the stop. I know me and the rest of the fans gave up at that time, but im glad our team didnt, speaks a lot to the leadership of the players and coaches

Looking at PFF grades for offense. Surprised Staley higher than Brazell. Also Heard seems pretty dominant this year and surprised at his grade. Thought he played great yesterday along with Perry.

Maybe these numbers are all worthless at the end of the day

And will you come back and say I was right when you talk to whoever someone is? I said it the first game about McCoy and last night AP finally spoke on it. Im not spreading any rumors and never have. I say what I hear from people who would know.

I just repeated exactly what I heard from Coach Matthews on his Nashville radio show… He obviously has a rather long history with UT and still speaks regularly with people all around the program. Although it would be phenomenal to have McCoy back no doubt.

If you have Moi and Hobbs there are no depth concerns.

If any team in the country loses two of its top 3 players at any position group there is going to be depth problems.
Yeah, but we were supposed to fill a depth need and didn't. Maybe there just wasn't the right guy out there since everyone asks for starter money.

It's amazing how this fan base eats its own. From belittling each other to name calling.

I don't see this as a loss I see it as progress to where we ultimately want to be, beating the top dog in the conference again and taking over as the best. It warms my heart that we're close to being the hunted instead of the hunters.

It wasn't Gilbert's fault we came up short, it was a combination of things from poor execution on some plays to some key players being out. Yes, the officiating was questionable but it's like that in every game in college football.

i would rather lose a, close game we could've won instead of getting blown out and dominated like we had for the last 7 or 8 years vs Kirby Smart and Georgia. We will still make playoffs as long as we beat who we suppose to and take advantage of the Gators down in Florida and Alabama. I was skeptical of this team this year but after yesterday I see a really good team that will make waves in CFP...
Well you might have some valid points but I quit reading after the bolded.
I think one of the reasons this fan base eats it’s own is some can’t except and admit the facts.
A loss is a loss. If you don’t see a loss as a loss then you’re just foolish.

I can feel better that we basically gave them the win this year , which is better than them outright beating us by 2-3 touchdowns like the last 3.
But I’m not sugar coating it as if it’s some kind of victory

I really thought Ethan Davis would be a good player. He might be FCS level.

I don’t post a whole lot,
But do read the forum thoroughly every day.

The OVERALL consensus on this board before the season started was that we were somewhere between a 7-5 and a 10-2 team, with most landing in the middle saying we might win between 8 and 9 if the breaks worked for us.

Then we go into the GA game down several key defensive players and put up the best performance against them in almost a decade.

That game hurt for sure, with a win so close to being within grasp.

But I would say that team looks a lot better than most on this board projected before the season started. I think 9-3 or 10-2 is way more likely than a 7-5 type of season.

GBO!
That performance beats everyone else on the schedule.
