Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I hope we play them again.

I’ll say that much.
Said that last night. Win the rematch.

The players now know they are capable of running the table. Do it. The coaches need to catch up to the players.

Look how long it took OSU to get it together last season. Then they won it all convincingly.

Georgia shows no propensity to make the vertical passing game a part of their offense. This will catch up to them if they don’t develop this. We seemed to figure it out and started pressing more later in the game. They hurt us when we played a ‘soft” coverage.
Except for when its 4th and f’n long they can do it

Really dumb we went and got a D2 guy that's not physically ready yet, when we really needed quality DT depth. I trust Josh Schell will be good for us in the future, but that was a miss for this year.

Then again, would some back up DT make a difference against UGA? idk, but Hobbs and Moi would've....
If you have Moi and Hobbs there are no depth concerns.

If any team in the country loses two of its top 3 players at any position group there is going to be depth problems.

I’ve heard from a few the crowd was not near as loud as it should have been and years past. Especially considering the circumstances, anyone else there and can tell me they’re just bitter from the loss?
Just my opinion from watching, but I said that last night.
Last year UF/Bama
The S Car game from a couple years ago.

Neyland wasn't what Neyland could be yesterday.

One question I had in real time was not going for 2 up 34-30. I told my son at the time. It was into the 4th quarter, and being up 6 protects you from two FG’s. But, if you don’t get it and kick a FG like we did, UGA still ties it at 37-37. If we had gotten the 2, we would have been up 39-30. I would like to see what the chart says.

It looks slightly favorable at the 11 min mark in the 4th.

A lot of different opinions and outlooks this morning, but the good news is that overall, everyone is good with where this program is headed...

No one will argue that if we were at full strength, we would have whipped them by min 14... Not having our DB's and injuries on the D-line definitely gave them at least 2 TD's... (add in the horribly obvious refs killing us with BS calls/no calls to stall drives and give them 1st downs and points)

4th and 17 to put the game away and they throw an endzone TD with us in gunner's face against our true frosh DB was just a killer...Yet we still came back and had a chance to kick for the win...

I would say the only part of the game that really got me upset was that final drive in regulation where we went too conservative to set up the FG... we needed to be going for a TD being smart, but settle for a FG if needed... we easily could have gotten 10 more yards before the false start...

Big serious question--- with Ga taking the false start penalty on the FG to back us up, wasn't that still 3rd down? Didn't we technically have a chance to gain back the yards we lost and still kick on 4th? I haven't seen a replay and couldn't go back and check yesterday...

This team will improve and learn from yesterday, I think the head coach learned something from yesterday too... NEVER take your foot off the gas until the whistle...
Yes we kicked on third down. We could have run another play. I get kicking on third down because you could fumble and recover I just thought we would have kicked it on the prior third down.

They wanted middle of the field and to end the game on the kick, so that’s why Joey ran on 3rd down on the false start. I also wonder if they were afraid of another penalty to move it back again.

I don’t post a whole lot,
But do read the forum thoroughly every day.

The OVERALL consensus on this board before the season started was that we were somewhere between a 7-5 and a 10-2 team, with most landing in the middle saying we might win between 8 and 9 if the breaks worked for us.

Then we go into the GA game down several key defensive players and put up the best performance against them in almost a decade.

That game hurt for sure, with a win so close to being within grasp.

But I would say that team looks a lot better than most on this board projected before the season started. I think 9-3 or 10-2 is way more likely than a 7-5 type of season.

GBO!

I thought that too. But it’s the same OL and had be snapped again, still a threat of a false start on the kick.

Just wasn’t meant to be. Sucks.

I purposefully stayed off here till this morning because I knew the reaction would be over the top and probably crazy.

Honestly I am pretty optimistic about this team. When the other QB left in the spring and we engineered a swap of QBs with UCLA, did anyone really think we would be as good as we appear to be? We look like the 22 offense, Joey has exceeded any expectations I had for him!

Gilbert has to hit that fg and this place is lit. After watching this game, I now know we absolutely can win the rest of our games. This is the first time since 2016 I believe we have put up more than 17 points!
