Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Tomorrow is going to be a test in a few ways for the team...wish we were healthier, but will show us how good we are if we compete the full game as banged up as we are.

Got a bye week after @ Miss State...if we can get there with just 1 loss (or less) then get healthy for that next stretch of games...really like our chances. To be a 10 win team and have a real shot at the playoffs.

Win tomorrow though...and I think we'll all be expecting 12-0
Who is the loss to?

I mean that feeling just as your getting knocked out and the moment you're knocked in seems like no time has passed. When I woke up, for a split second, I thought I was still waiting.
Oh yeah. I tried to get them to bring me coffee and a hamburger in the recovery area. They did not. Very poor customer service iyam.

I would like to take a moment to reflect and appreciate what an absolutely amazing job Josh Heupel has done here. When you look at where we were when he took over and where we are now, it’s staggering. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. Here’s hoping a win tomorrow keeps us climbing.

Like most of you, I have convinced myself we can beat Georgia. And we can. To do so however will take a lot of things to go our way.

1) Protect Joey. This will be the hardest part. Georgia has not had to show anything in the first two weeks. Our coaching staff will want to review blitz packages GA has utilized against other fast offenses from the last two years (I doubt they will do much of the same from past years of playing us). Specifically, they should watch Ole Miss 2024. DO NOT FALSE START WHEN THEY DO THE LINE SHIFT FOR GOD'S SAKE. I feel like we jump 2-3 times every time we play them and go from 3rd and manageable to 3rd and long. Absolute drive killers.

2) The WR's will need to get separation despite being grabbed. Officials let GA get away with a lot. They need to mentally expect that and not get frustrated. GA will do everything to offset our timing. Luckily for us, we have capable TE's.

3). Joey will need to use his legs. Those are the teams that have beat or stayed close against GA. The threat of Joey running will also keep the DE's wide and open up the inside run for us which is our bread and butter.

4) On defense, we need to have a spy on Gunner.

5) We need to grab them as much as they grab us. One or two big plays in the passing game could be the difference.

Finally, we need to be professional and disciplined. Crowd will need to be oppressive. OL cannot false start more than once. Georgia has been the best program in college football for a reason over the past 5 years. They don't care how they win. They play with attitude but not ego. As much as it pains me, they have a great coach and outside of George Pickens, you hardly see guys acting out. We need to be as disciplined as they are. We do not need to go for it on 4th down when a FG is an option, or the game is close. Points will be a premium. That plays into their hands. I do not believe another team has benefitted more from 4th down turnovers than GA. This plays right into their hands as they have not had an explosive offense for a number of years.
1) Our oline will be one of the best in the country and not only will the protect, we will run it down their throat.
2) I have seen "separation" aka open receivers all over the last three years and will again.
3) It's not Joey's legs that are going to be the problem for Georgia. We are going to run over them like a semi over a yearling on the interstate.
4) Gunner is going to be running for his life, he gonna feel more pressure and stress than Hitler in a Hebrew's house.
5) The crowd will not be a problem for us. When we are on offense, it will be quiet as fart in church.

Do you have the menu on the TV? Pretty cool how it's setup, if you don't mind paying $65 for a hamburger and $15 for the bun. . .

Really, prices weren't that bad, considering it was a hospital (UT). I think it was Litton's or something.
