Merk looked a little panicked the first drive but I really thought he settled down and executed several good drives after that before GMac came in. He definitely showed his potential.

I did like that GMac was calm from snap 1 and kept his eyes downfield after the plays broke down.

Agree 1,000,000%! Merk looked terrible in my opinion versus GMac did not look like a true freshman at all. His reads were much faster.

Anybody else mildly concerned the defense is leaky?

It’s athletic, but we’ve given up more points than I expected the first two weeks

Maybe that’s pace of play

Doesn’t change my outlook on the season but does make me think we may see some 45-42 shootouts down the road…

Right now it is slightly concerning, but we also are missing 2 of our key pieces at dt, and our starting cb’s. Once we get the DT’s back and mccoy back we should be ok

You have to read state run media between the lines, but it was obvious the kind of camp Merk was having when on his podcast in mid-August Hubbs said "there is going to be a QB battle for the ages next year between Faizon Brandon and GMac."

I always thought GMac was a better option than Merk in terms of the future. I hope he has a lot of success here, and he seems like a standup kid and is one Hell of an athlete.

When is the last time you watched an NFL draft? Those GMs do CRAZY things when guys have the physical traits. They think they can “fix” them.

People can say "halftime adjustments" are overrated all they want to. You go into halftime winning by 10 and proceed to go 0-34 in the second half, you deserve to get fired.

Brent Pry is 2 seasons past the point he should have been fired. No one can accuse VT of not having patience. Get rid of that dude.
