Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

People can say "halftime adjustments" are overrated all they want to. You go into halftime winning by 10 and proceed to go 0-34 in the second half, you deserve to get fired.

Brent Pry is 2 seasons past the point he should have been fired. No one can accuse VT of not having patience. Get rid of that dude.
That team quit as soon as they went down 3. It looked like how the Dooley teams used to quit in the 2nd half i mean to a T.

I am hopeful Georgia wasn't just sandbagging Austin Peay and are actually kind of not good. Marshall lost to Missouri State and is 0-2...so going into this weekend with some optimism, should be the best shot we've got to beat the Dawgs under Heupel.
I don’t think Georgia is as good as they use to be but Georgia always plays with their food.

Kirby Smart comes from the Saban school where you go into games like that with 5 play calls on the sheet and expect to talent your way through it.

What Georgia can't hide is that Stockton is playing scared. Missing throws and running way too early.

You're playing scared at home against Austin Peay this could be a rough week for you in Neyland bud.

Thoughts?

Honestly I'd probably have us top 5 right now

1. LSU (best win of the year beating Clemson)
2. Georgia (no big win, but stay on the top until they lose)
3. OU (them beating Michigan might be 2nd best win by SEC so far)
4. Vols
5. Texas
6. Miss State (I think Arizona State was overrated, but still a top 15 win)
7. Auburn (Baylor win on road giving them edge)
8. South Carolina (AP loves em but who they beat yet?)
9. Texas A&M
10. Ole Miss
11. Missouri
12. Vandy (at least VA Tech is P4)
13. Arkansas
14. Kentucky
15. Bama
16. Florida (USF is the worst loss of any SEC so far)

I debated dropping Texas further down...but losing at Ohio State by one score to open the season is honestly better than some of the cupcakes the other teams behind them beat.

UGA will try and play keep away and run the clock.

Their entire game plan will be run, run, run, short completions…

Move the chains very slowly and methodically.

This bodes very well for us if we can stop them once or twice and turn around and score.

They can’t play catch up. At all. Gunner isn’t that guy.

Lol at Bama that low. They would beat the brains in of Vandy, UK, Arkansas, Missouri. They're good enough to contend for the SEC.

I hate them as much as anyone, but come on. They didn't lose to a 2 win fsu, they lost to a revamped fsu that's going to contend for the acc. Why not drop Texas all the way down for losing their hard game and not even covering against their cupcake?

Stockton does not impress me at all. It gives me a lot of hope against Georgia Saturday. I hope Heup is able to score against Georgia this season.

Well make your own list? I guess

To me power rankings are just about results not "what ifs" or "talent on roster"

39 of 59 for 66.1%
535 passing yards, 9.1 average per completion
5 TDs to 0 INTs
73 yards current longest TD pass
0 sacks
6 rushes for 34 yards and 5.7 ypc

If Joey can keep this sort of play up...

he's on pace for 3180 passing yards and 30 passing TDs
I don't think the rest of our schedule will be etsu and Syracuse level, so I doubt he's going to keep up that kind of pace.

Your list is much more about who's played a decent opponent and who hasn't. Bama won by 70+ points this week. I guess if you're literally just looking at results for the first 2 games without any nuance or context, you could put them bottom half because they have a loss. But saying Bama is the 2nd worst in the SEC just makes the list hard to take seriously. The FSU loss was not that bad.

I'd like to see more of Daune Morris. All for him taking Peyton Lewis' carries. Not giving up on Lewis...just think Morris looks the more explosive and dynamic of the two.
