I would like to point out that no duplicate game thread was created to force this less than ideal field condition.
All grievances can be filed to the ultimate game thread jinxer, @Glitch, and his bammer cronie @TN-POSSUM
My wife (then gf) never let's me forget that game. It was the first game after the Sugar Vols and there must have been 150K people there wandering around looking for tickets. Only time in my life I never saw anyone selling tickets. We started looking on the far end of Cumberland Ave all the way to the stadium. 0 tickets were being offered. She quizzed me before we drove there about not having tickets. I told her, I can always get tickets! Had to shame walk back to car, listen to it on the radio on the way home, while hearing she was never going back unless I had tickets in hand. Good times.....September 6, 1986
Tennessee Vols - 35
New Mexico Lobos - 21
The one-game suspension of 10 Tennessee players Saturday night for improper distribution of tickets seemed totally out of proportion to the nature of the violation, according to Johnny Majors, the Volunteers' coach.
Despite losing the services of the 10 players Saturday, including the superb place-kicker, Carlos Reveiz, Tennessee scored a 35-21 triumph over New Mexico in Knoxville. Keith Davis, the Tennessee tailback, scored two touchdowns on runs of 46 and 14 yards.
''It was a travesty of justice considering the crime,'' Majors said. ''It was just not realistic. It was sort of like sending a guy to prison for a year for going 65 miles an hour in a 55-mile zone.
''I'm not saying what they did was right because it wasn't. But under these rules a player may not be able to give a pass to his fiancee or girlfriend while another player who is married can give a ticket to his wife. And when there are sellouts a kid can't even buy a ticket for a girlfriend.''View attachment 770852
She wants to act like a man she’s gonna get droppedI wouldn't be going to the world series, because I would have told Karen to go back to her seat and enjoy the rest of the game sans ball....unless she has her husband's in her purse.
You missed an important word there. My oldest son is getting married today! It's supposed to be an outdoor wedding but it ain't looking too good for that. Hopefully we'll get a break in the weather this afternoon and they can get the wedding they've been dreaming of. There is a "plan b", but I really hope we don't have to move it inside. Either way, after almost 21 years, my family is changing forever. If you have youngsters, spend as much time with them as possible, take them to cool overlooks and ball games, volunteer coach, and most importantly....take them to church. I heard my whole life how time flies but we've been in warp speed for the past year or so. It went a lot faster than I thought it should have.
The lesson here: DO NOT PLAN PLAN WEDDINGS DURING FOOTBALL SEASON (unless it's a bye week).
GO VOLS
That LS came out of a Vette that lost it on a corner and backed into a guard rail at about 45mph. Got the engine for about $2.5k and built it for about $1.6k. Has 38k miles on it before the rebuild.I have a soft spot for the old school sbc, but it’s hard to beat an LS. When you start adding up how much it costs each one to get to 400, 500, 600 hp it’s hard to justify not going LS, other than nostalgia
He did nearly hide behind his kid. Shoulda given her a good shove and told her “be gone vial creature!”View attachment 770862*never thown hands in his life.![]()
People should be smiling every time they hear Heupel's name. He worked a miracle that no one believed he could do so quickly. I would've bet @Ron Swanson 's entire game day set-up that there was no way we'd be 10-2 in year 2 with a huge win over Bama.He was just the last rung of a ladder of mistakes. It’s a miracle that we are where we are now looking back at how many times our AD managed to screw everything up. Sometimes I even sit and think at how unlikely it seems that we managed to get that many wrong hires in a row. You would have figured we’d have gotten lucky at some point. Nope. If it wasn’t for Danny we’d be Nebraska tier by now.
